Realising how tragic a Warden Rook romance can be with everyone, but especially Emmrich. His whole life he’s been terrified of death, but he is at least certain Rook will outlive him.

Except one day they aren’t themselves, they can hear the song. And they realise it’s time, it’s their calling come early.

Not only is there nothing Emmrich can do but he’s now too old to follow them into the deeproads, he’s unable to save them and worse still unable to retrieve their body once they’re gone. He has to live his remaining years knowing Rook died down there alone, and he can’t even take comfort in his country’s customs to bury them properly.

One of the reasons I love romancing Emmrich as a Warden Rook is because it's less 'match my freak ' and more 'my freak has recently gotten several orders of magnitude worse than it's ever been, and your freak is stable and pleasant in comparison.'.

I've noticed something while studying Emmrich chara design. Someone in another post already mentioned how his coat was based on skeleton's design (I'm really sorry, it was a great post, I can't find it again). I saw nothing about his particular waistcoat design however, so here we are.

Shape language is very important when designing. This man is all triangles and sharp angles, so his outfit follows the same rule. Triangles work like arrows, pointing at things and give direction to the eyes. This is where I find this design genius (because I like my men being sexy yet subtle about it). With a few more stretched angles, we go from a traditional gentleman waistcoat to... a combo of corset and lingerie. Delicious. Give that chara designer a rise.

If you ever wondered why Emmrich looks so sexy... Now you know.

I'm gonna be real honest for a sec... I have romanced Lucanis only once and will likely only romance him once. And not because I think it was unsatisfying (cuz it WAS satisfying).

It's because I fuckin LOVE Lucanis' role as the femme fatale next to Neve's hard-boiled private eye.

Playing the new Dragon Age and some thoughts... Spoilery? Kinda?

When I'm scanning the room with object glint on stuff'll blink brightly purple sometimes on the edge of my screen just enough to get my attention.

Some dialouge kinda felt like they've been pulled from bad 80's B-movies. Helps to imagine them as lines from the serial(*coughfanfiction) Belara's writing about your adventures (sound familiar? She's not as good a writer as Varric).

I'm more invested in Neve and Lucanis' romance than I am with Rook's.

Made an elven Shadow Dragon and, shit... I love her. I have headcanons. Her curls bounce!

I want to find every person out there claiming da:tv isn't grimdark enough and punch them in the face then rifle through their achievements cuz they obviously didn't actually play the game through. Shits like the end of Mass Effect 2 on steroids (or the blight).

Second playthrough:

Ya know, I've LOVED both my Rook's. Like really really loved them.

Second Rook is a human Grey Warden mage who's basic character concept was my Amell but, like, jock. I have even more headcanons for her.

Mage is a bit harder to get into than rogue but I'm also hamstringing myself cuz I really wanted her to be a pyromancer. Don't really have a lot of options for that.

The cheesy bits have grown on me, and the maps are less confounding.

I remember back in the day, Bioware really leaning into the whole 'Zaphod's just zis guy, you know?' shtick when they were introducing Solas (oh, he's just a fourty-something year old apostate who lived in the wilds and studied the fade. Nothing interesting here. No sir.). And now I'm looking at all the newest companions suspiciously thinking about who they are talking about the least.

So, I'm replaying Dragon Age: Origins, as you do, and in the middle of cracking down on organized crime in Orzammar I hear Alistair gleefully shout, "You smell great! Is that death you're wearing? It really suits you!" while decapitating gangsters.
