idk who needs to hear this but when your english teacher asks you to explain why an author chose to use a specific metaphor or literary device, it’s not because you won’t be able to function in real-world society without the essential knowledge of gatsby’s green light or whatever, it’s because that process develops your abilities to parse a text for meaning and fill in gaps in information by yourself, and if you’re wondering what happens when you DON’T develop an adult level of reading comprehension, look no further than the dizzying array of examples right here on tumblr dot com

i’m just a regular person on the internet with a pornography obsession so significant that it is impossible even for strangers not to notice. however, i’m normal. don’t mind the orgasming cartoon woman i have as my profile pic – it’s just her head so it is OK. let’s talk about something normal, i expect you to be able to ignore all this

gym class was about getting so good at not being noticed that you were always the last one left on your team during dodgeball and everyone was begging you to throw balls at people but you simply could not and did not want to throw balls at people

i think theres something you lose when you develop practical skill at art where you just cannot draw like really good bad drawings. like its forced, your learned grasp on anatomy and line doesnt go away. youre too caught in it, it controls ever line you make, you cant fully force yourself to discard it. even trying your hardest you cant accomplish that earlier state, you can only badly mimic it
and like im not saying “ungnghfhjjhhdh im so good i cant even draw badly if i wanted to!!” because that is like the opposite of what i mean, i mean like no matter how much i do, how much i grow and accomplish, nothing i will EVER make will even begin to compare to the raw feeling captured in this image

does anyone else remember being in, like, middle school and every adult over the age of 30 being like “drawing or writing on your hands is literally the most EVIL thing you can do and can KILL you”

The idea of english as a mother tongue is so strange to me, in my head english is how ppl communicate when there's no way in common to communicate, so english as a mother tongue sounds a bit like idk email as a mother tongue ykwim? Like english to me feels like the stuff that's used to fill the empty spaces between languages

people only stanning robert sheehan now because of the umbrella academy like … british culture was watching misfits on e4 as a teenager even tho your parents told you not to. y’all are truly missing out on his Most iconic role as mr. nathan young, immortal irish idiot, ft such events as shrieking and stomping a placenta whilst dressed as santa claus, arguing for their code word to be “monkey slut” and immediately getting impaled, and walking out of a toilet dressed in a wedding dress with the line “dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to check me the fuck out!”

One last hot take and then I’ll shut up: the reason adhd is framed first and foremost as a learning disability when it is in fact more apt to call it an emotional processing disorder is bc our society is only concerned w the ways neurological disorders impede a person’s ability to “function” aka get a job and contribute positively to capitalist society. How adhd affects interpersonal behaviors and emotional health is only relevant insofar as it relates to a person’s level of societal functioning PERIOD. There is no interest in improving our actual livelihoods
