It wasn’t her intention to have him injured, at least not like that, sympathy shooting through her at the site of his arm, the fear in his eyes. It wasn’t enough to subside her anger, the betrayal she felt that he would leave her like that. She couldn’t stop now that she was here, with the contents of his letter still fresh on her mind and further fueling every awful feeling she had, every violent impulse. 

She slowly picked up the pace, arm reeled back as she prepared herself, thinking only of her catharsis, of getting what she came for. Once close enough, she swung for his face (hard, but not nearly as hard as she could; she didn’t want to break his jaw). It was Tabitha, she always felt bad about hurting him but he deserved nothing less after what he’d done.

“Say something to me.”

His silence was irritating her more by the second. She wanted to hear an apology, an explanation. She wanted anything more than what he was giving her.

Terror rises and the beast makes you stop entirely, though, unfortunately, the shock is enough to allow Alfie to slip through your grasp and right onto the your aggressor. He immediately goes for the throat, but the horns easily deter him, and he’s snapping at Cerberus’ legs, intending to cripple and hinder.

The minute you unfreeze, however, Courtney’s looming threat is forgotten as you get into the fight yourself, to shove the Houndoom back and to pull Alfie away. Teeth sink into your arm, but it’s Alfie, and you’re using it as a chance to grab him and hurriedly drag him back and away, only to hear Courtney behind you. Your blood is ice in your veins as you pry apart your Pokémon’s jaws to free your arm, and, once separated, his ball is produced and he’s sent back into it, though you stagger away from her dizzily, feet unsteady with your fear-induced dizziness.

You don’t dare speak first, scarlet eyes wide and terrified as you lock sights with the other Admin.

He was only making matters worse.

Of course she never intended to let him off without any form of punishment, but it would’ve been far easier on him had he just stayed and accepted what was coming. As it was...

Eyes dart to the Houndoom at her side.

“Cerberus,” curt, deathly calm, speaking only the Pokemon’s name roused it to action, taking off after Tabitha as its trainer followed along at a slow, leisurely pace. It wouldn’t hurt him, instead darting in front of the former Magma admin before wheeling to face him, hackles raised and growling.

She continued at the same pace.

“It’s really rude of you to...Run off like that. I just want...Just want to talk, Tabitha.”

Every word dripped venom, hands clenched tightly into fists. She could follow him all night if necessary; he wasn’t going to be allowed to escape without proper retribution. She wouldn’t allow him to get away entirely unscathed.

Not long after parting ways with Wally upon reaching the outskirts of Slateport, you decided to rest and recollect yourself. There won’t be any ships until morning, so you’ll have to wait.

You wonder morosely what Courtney’s doing, leaning against a fence as you rest before you entire Slateport– mainly since you still want to stay, although you also don’t.

Speak of the devil.

It isn’t until you hear the baying of a very, very familiar Houndoom not far off of the low road.

Not a good sound to hear when you were attempting to avoid its owner. Alfie is roused immediately, hackles raised and head low as he snarls, intent on protecting you due to picking up on your sudden spike of terror. The moment Courtney comes into view, you’re picking up your Mightyena to start running, despite his angry struggles.

You’ll take a bite or two if that’s what it takes to get the fuck away from her and her hell hound.

He was gone.

She should have expected as much, she supposed; without Maxie, there was nothing for them to do. No missions to go on, no research to carry out, only the two of them trying desperately to save a sinking ship -- or in this case, a burning one. Still, she never thought he would just up and leave...Not without saying a word to her.

Not without a goodbye.

And to leave her with the remains of Magma, to leave her without guidance or purpose and run off without so much as a word...Teeth clenched shut as she ripped up the letter he had so thoughtfully left, turning violently on her heel to leave the base after him. Her usual grandeur was gone, not a word of command, no one was left in charge. She simply left.

If she knew Tabitha (and she did), then she knew where he had gone, the route he had taken out of the region -- because, without Magma, there was no hope for them in Hoenn. Sneers followed them everywhere they turned; they were notorious, hated and even feared by its residents. 

She took the most direct route; if he was trying to leave, he wouldn’t waste any time. She spent too much time searching the crowds in Mauville, shouting his name just outside the city, even going so far as to summon her Houndoom, just to have him search out Tabitha’s scent.

She would find him, and she would make him understand that he didn’t get to shove the remains of their crumbling organization off on her and then leave her like that.

Slowly, slowly. Some level of professionalism had to be maintained, the grunts couldn’t see the excitement she felt at being able to see Tabitha again. It was difficult, however to keep up her usual leisurely pace and she found herself at a near jog as she made her way down to the kitchen. 

...She didn’t expect to see him in something so..Ridiculous upon first seeing him again. She didn’t comment, though, and instead moved to seat herself up on the counter, legs kicking as she attempted to remain casual and aloof.

“.....What did you make?”
