In a previous blog post, I wrote about how to be able to voice text information. Well, here you will see me using my phone, and Google Translate in action. I made this quick little video to show you just how simple it is to get what’s in your head out into a written format. I can’t even begin to tell you what a game-changer it has been. 

Google Translate isn't the only Speech-to-Text 

You can use Siri, your computer, or other speech-to-text options, however, I’ve found that Google’s transcription algorithm best transcribes my speech. The speech to text technology is insane at this point with so many devices such as Alexa, google home, and other smart voice technologies in place. What is even crazier is the text to text-to-speech technology that is becoming more and more popular. That is why companies such as Amazon have created services such as Amazon Polly to allow individuals for a meager cost convert written text into actual speech! Now that is another blog post all in its self!

Voice Text Information Instead of Writing it Out!

Being able to voice text information has been a blessing in so many ways! Do you guys think I sit and write all of this information every single day non-stop? Well, I don’t. One of the things I do is I use Siri or Google Voice to record myself as I’m walking around doing stuff around the house. Using the text-to-speech feature on my phone is an easy way for me to get my message across, and yet it’s still in a written format, which I can then post later on to my blog. Whether it’s news update, something I want my students to know, or something my business partners need to know.  I use my phone to take notes while using voice text. From there, I sent it to myself and turn it into a blog, update, assignment. You name it. It only takes a few seconds to edit bam I’m done! Use Your Headset or Bluetooth to Voice Text Information One of the things I started doing was hooking up my headset, which allows me to easily voice text information and do something while I "speak" out instructions to lectures or write my blog. I’m able to dictate to my phone, which is technically writing this out for me while I’m cleaning my chicken coop and cleaning my house. So, I’m doing two things at once it’s an easy way for business owners instructors alike to be able to get information out quickly in a written format. Shoot as I’m writing now, I’m making hummingbird food for my birds outside. All while I’m trying to write this article for my next blog post. Once I’m done, I’ll simply email it to myself or upload the information to my google drive. Use Google Docs If I dictate straight into a Google Docs document, I can access it from anywhere. Of course, you have to have Google apps installed on your phone, but that’s simple enough. Additionally, I can go in and do some quick editing adding punctuation, and from there, I copy it straight to my blog or assignment. By using the same Google applications on all my devices, it takes little to no time to edit and post the information. Not to mention, I can access it from any technology I’m using. Not all Videos Have to Be High Quality!

https://youtu.be/JqS2zKj1Ers Many videos don’t have to be of high quality. When on a time crunch, just getting your point across sometimes is all that’s needed. Students & Clients often appreciate when they can see that their instructors or business partners aren’t these high and mighty beings that don’t reside on the planet Earth. And while I get it, you know you have some folks that aren’t as tech-savvy and have some issues editing video. However, that doesn’t have to be complicated either. Again, be real! Allow people to see some of the bloopers and mistakes. It’s life! Hell, their life is not perfect. So, I’m sure they’ll appreciate seeing some not-so-perfect people in this world living just the way that they do. Use Screen Recording for Quality Video Remember, some of the best videos are just audio of you talking and then showing a few still images. That alone can help you explain and get your point across. You do not need a massive mass production or video that you have to edit and piece together. A lot of videos can be just a screen share or screen capture of what you’re showing your students. A lot of my videos are only screen shares. My students and clients just get to hear me being the commentator while they’re watching me solve their problems. Or when I show them something on the screen.

So what do I use for my recording real simple I use my phone for most of it and then the rest of it is going to be through Camtasia. The biggest thing to spend time on is closed captioning. Remove web links from search engines

Do you have links or content you need to remove from search engines? Maybe the pages no longer exist or maybe the information found shouldn't be appearing at all. Not only is it frustrating but it also impacts your SEO ranking. Having 404-page errors that appear when content is no longer available on a site also greatly impacts search engine ranking results. Here is an easy way to see what content and information a search engine has indexed. 

Remove links from search engines

Simply open a search engine such as Google, Bing, Yahoo, or whatever search engine you like and type site:yourdomain.com. For example, we typed in Google the following. 

What content is appearing in searches?

Any links or titles that don’t seem right to you we recommend that you click those links. If a 404 error page appears such as the one below. Or content that you don’t want to have searchable.

Removing content from searches

Additionally, we recommend that you manually remove the links by using a free link removal tool often provided by the search engine.
