The fae couldn't completely comprehend what was happening to him. He knew he had made himself forget, but... it seemed it didn't completely work the way he had planned. He still remembered far too much, all of it was pain. Not a single happy memory. He took some time to stare down the other on that side of the room. He contemplated what he should do next. Part of him wanted to attack from fear, but part of him knew there had to be some kindness... what memories he had of his past life were far different than how this one had treated him. The difficulty of his decision making was obvious on his face.
His brows furrowed together, curling up into himself, taloned hands held onto either side of his head. All he could do was weep. He could not escape his hell.
Yin stayed rather quiet throughout the night and morning; at some point, he should probably go to class, knowing that time was approaching, and yet he remained. He had long-since abandoned his studies, the books closed, journal aside with pen safely capped and tucked between the pages as he set his full attention upon the bird nestled on the bed across the room.
In silence, he watched as the creature drifted in and out of sleep--though he wasn't quite sure how much of an impact his presence had, if the raven found it comforting to discover Yin was still there or if it made the bird all the more nervous. But something that did most definitely catch Yin's attention was the fact that the bird began to change, no longer just a bird...well...that was not something he saw every day. Then again, he was seeing all sorts of strange things at Nevermore.
When the raven woke with a start, he briefly contemplated feigning sleep...but no, Yin was ever an honest being, and simply lifted his hands in a slow, graceful gesture that was the universal sign for 'I mean no harm' while remaining on his side of the room. Beyond the curtain, the window was still open should his company decide to flee; again, Yin would not keep him there. "Still safe..." he murmured in reassurance, not moving.

"If you are related, his orders and accusations were quite harshly put, yes? You seemed to become rather upset with what was said..... It sounded as if you had no relation at all from his standpoint."
He looked over to meet the gaze. "Or is that just how he has always been?" Amin knew Dream could be quite harsh and cold, even on a good day.
It made sense that few would speak of him, especially the Endless--though Despair was more apt to mention him than the others. Dream? Not so much.
But had Dream always been so harsh to him? Admittedly, Yin did not understand the question, and it prompted the slightest lift of his brows in response to the inquiry. With dark eyes pried away from the celestial phenomenon, he focused the midnight gaze upon the dreamling.
"...harsh...?" he echoed upon an ethereal murmur. "...in what way?"

"Sure... it's better to be prepared.... But I'm not sure it makes it any safer." The fae scrunches his face.
"It's a little hard to worry and not worry at the same time.... Bit contradictory."
He was someone who found it hard to stay in one place for long because of that exact fear. "Why not find some place more... secluded?"

The fae would fall in and out of sleep. Despite his want.... his need... to keep an eye on the stranger, he was still all too tired. He did seem to notice that any time he did manage to stay awake, the other had been awake too. He just couldn't be sure if it was coincidence.
Eventually he did drift off into a deeper sleep. He had nothing but a mess of scrambled nightmares, bits of his old life. Eventually, one terrifying enough to wake him with a start. He found himself a mess of feathers on the bed, of what would be his more natural form, not quite human, not quite bird. His hands and feet a dark, thick, inky black skin, similar to that one might find on a raven's feet. His talon's drawn to attack at first, though he did not when he realized he was not in the same place his nightmare had taken him. Even so, he remained on edge, fearful of what might happen next.
He quickly scanned the room in search of the stranger, knowing full well it might no longer be safe in this room if they saw him.
Yin echoed the nod with one of his own, though of course the window remained open in case the raven changed its mind. He returned to his books upon the bed, seeming content to study quietly while the bird recuperated.
Now and then, he glanced up from the pages to observe the raven making itself comfortable, even starting to eat a little? That was reassuring; at least now Yin knew this talking bird did not need to be fed by hand. For now, though, he let the poor creature be.
In fact, he would be rather quiet and studious throughout the evening; perhaps the raven might find it odd that Yin--someone who certainly appeared human--did not sleep. And when the grey light of predawn was noticed, he finally stood to close the curtains...though still left the window open, just in case, with only the dim light of the single lamp at the bird's bedside left to illuminate the room along with the occasional glimpse of rising sun when a breeze rustled the curtain; however, that light never seemed to touch Yin's side of the room.

Matthew shook his head, in a way that was akin to rolling his eyes. It may have less to do with being a raven and more keeping his own distance in likeness to someone he'd rather not have to be. He'd been down darker paths before, and it was something he didn't want to risk repeating.
"Speaking of impulse control... Maybe try to bring this one back in good condition?" He knew not all dreams and nightmares came back easily, Corinthian himself was proof of that.
"What's your plan?" The raven wasn't about to just let the nightmare have at it without him being in on the loop.
"It's built into your natural instinct, birdie. Don't hate it till you've tried it." The Nightmare muses as he strolls. There's something undeniably entertaining in unsettling Morpheus's little pet. Especially when Matthew is directly ordered to accompany the Corinthian. The poor little raven is stuck with him until they've carried out their business in the Waking World.
"I'm not designed with impulse control in mind." The Nightmare answers with a hint of amusement in his tone as the Dreamkin finally stops at the end of the alleyway, outside of a set of steel doors that appear to enter a warehouse. His lips purse as he stands still for a moment.
"This is it. I can sense the rogue dream."

"Oh...." Amin gave a nod. He was much more certain now that Dream had left him in the dark on a great many things. Wether he was trying to teach him a lesson or if he thought it was just unnecessary for him to know, he couldn't tell. He did like to be mysterious.
He wondered if what Desire had done had made him so cold to everyone when it came to his realm. He did always seem like someone who liked things a particular way, even if, as Matthew had told him, he had seemed to soften a tad towards his dreams and nightmares since then.
"Has Dream always been so harsh with you, then?" He asked.
"Yes," he replied softly as he continued with his embroidery.  "Night is my daughter..."  Technically, she was his creation--it was not as though he had fathered her or given birth to her, but he had created her and thus, a compassionate and nurturing force as Yin considered Night his daughter.           And perhaps, if this partial-dream new that much about Dream, that Night was his mother, then perhaps that may put into perspective just what sort of 'relationship' Yin and the King of Nightmares had to one another.  Perhaps it was complicated, perhaps it was simple.  Perhaps this dreamling had no idea about Dream's parentage.  Whatever the case, Yin offered no further explanation aside from simply stating that this mystery daughter was Night.  And that he was 'braiding her hair'--though perhaps it was obvious that it was somewhat of an allegory.

The fae followed suit, keeping a careful eye as he had been from the start. For a time, he kept 'silent', though a small quirk from his brow came at the last statement. As much as he would like to entertain the offer, he wondered if there was any truth to it. He supposed time would tell. Brand would have to prove himself.
He wouldn't admit it, but there was a time when he trusted humans and they in turn had trusted him. Most anything that remained of him in the human realm was from those times. Those were much simpler times, before greed had taken over so many. Humans and in-humans frequently worked together back then. Those works used to be used to remember a kindness. To remind future generations of that fae who would long outlive them. To tell their story. To keep them welcome.
Perhaps that was why Brand felt brave enough to approach him in the first place. He only knew the good he had done before... before everything had gone to shit.
In time, after their betrayal, most humans twisted the story to their own end. Fae and the like became the villains. The humans who lived now a days often did not realize all these tricks came from a long deep seeded mistrust of their ancestors. The humans truly believed their kind had been wronged. Though the fae were only trying to protect themselves. Some still seek revenge, though Amin was not one of those fae. He just wanted his own little corner of the world to be left in peace.
"I will hold you to that." He finally answered. Without a doubt, he would like to be erased. He needed to be. Despite how cold the fae tried to come off, there was a certain fear in his eyes, one he could not hide.
When it seemed like they had reached their destination, there was more hesitance at the threshold. "What wardings I should be aware of?"
Brand had never been adept at beating around the bush. Sidestepping a difficult subject felt unnatural, and yet he was currently granted little choice in the matter. While he was sure that his awareness of fae was no longer dubious to Pan, there was an unspoken rule that it not be mentioned aloud ( and, particularly while they were in a public setting, it wasn't an unreasonable one ). Even so, it rendered explaining his motivations difficult.
Certainly, it was now. Pan had taken his words as avoidance — though why would Brand desire that route, when he was the one who had initiated this discussion to begin with? The sentiment had instead been meant as a reassurance. If Pan wished to view the paintings out of trepidation that they might be used for nefarious purposes, he had hoped that his lack of urgency in confirming that it was indeed the being in front of him that was their subject would confirm that such wasn't the case.
It was rather frustrating, but saying so was liable to make things worse. "You don't think it's a possibility that you were just the muse of someone's dreams?" The levity laced through the question was apparent in his eyes as they remained steady on Pan's, though it diminished as he continued, "You're probably right, though."
Taking a step back, Brand gestured for Pan to follow him. "Like I said, it's close. The paintings are fairly damaged, but I think you'll still understand why they reminded me of you." Even now, his gaze didn't waver, hoping that Pan would at least understand the genuine meaning of what he said next ( that he harbored no intention of sharing them, that he wouldn't push his luck any farther than he knew he already had ). "But it doesn't have to be you if you don't want it to be."

"I'm open to trying a lot of weird shit, but that is not one of them." He shook his head. "Blegh."
Hell, he's had to eat roadkill before, but it wasn't his favorite. The price of blending in, he supposed. Eating a human eyeball wouldn't exactly constitute blending in.
"You really have no impulse control with what comes out of those mouths of yours." One thing they almost had in common.
