Rival Consoles is an electro/IDM producer from Leicester. He initially used the stage name Aparatec, releasing an EP of material under that name in 2007. His first release as Rival Consoles was issued later in 2007 by the label Erased Tapes.

Rival Consoles released the new single Untravel on 13th March. 

You can catch Rival Consoles playing at XOYO, London on 12th April and at Mackintosh Church, Quenn’s Cross, Glasgow on 6th June.

Todays advert is the Blue Dragon advert. The advert shows a woman exploring Asia, she is eating food, cooking, dancing and jumping off boats etc. Not the best advert I have seen but not the worst either. The music however is pretty cool, which is Recovery by Rival Consoles.

Jain is a French singer-songwriter. Her debut album, Zanaka, was released in November 2015. Zanaka means "child" in Malagasy, and the title is a tribute to her mother who is of Franco-Malagasy origin. Zanaka was certified as a Gold record in February 2016 after having sold over 50,000 copies in France.

Jain likes to be spontaneous when she creates music. She is influenced with music from Arabic, Indian, African or European cultures and likes to mix styles and cultures.

Makeba was released in 2016 and went to number 7 in the French charts.

The song references Miriam Makeba also known as Mama Africa, a South African singer and activist.

The music video, shot in South Africa, was nominated for a Grammy Award.

You can't do an Ad Week Special without talking about Levi’s. Levi’s are not only known for their denim but also using top bangers in their adverts. We have had Marvin Gaye - Grapevine, Mr Oizo - Flat Eric, Smoke City - Underwater Love and The Clash - Should I Stay Or Should I Go, to name but a few.

All these were ad were in the 80′s & 90′s and we haven’t had a great Levi’s ad since the late 90′s, until now. Levi’s current advert, which was released Autumn 2017, shows people of all different cultures and backgrounds dancing in their jeans to Makeba by Jain.

LondonSecret 7” takes 7 tracks from the best-known musicians and presses each one 100 times to 7” vinyl. They then invite creatives to design the sleeves for every 7”. 700 unique sleeves are exhibited before going on sale on a first come, first served basis priced at £50 each. You don’t know who created the sleeve, or even which song it’s for, until you have parted with your cash.

Since 2012 Secret 7″ have produced 3,500 one-of-a-kind records for 35 different tracks. They have sold every single one and raised over £175,000 for great causes.

This year Secret 7 are raising money for Mind, the mental health charity.

For all you that haven’t heard of The Chemical Brothers here is some info.

The Chemical Brothers are a Manchester duo, Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons, who create electronic music. They have had six number one albums and 13 top 20 singles, including two number ones in the UK.

I had the pleasure of seeing them live at Bestival 2015. It is one thing listening to them in your bedroom to seeing them live. They have to be one of the best acts I have seen live and were one of my highlights of Bestival 2015.

The Chemical Brothers will be playing at a couple of UK festivals: Bluedot Festival on the 19th July and Boardmasters on the 8th August. The will also be doing 2 nights at Alexandra Palace, London on the 5th and 6th October.

The Chemical Brothers 'EML Ritual'

EML Ritual features a collaboration with British singer Ali Love. There is a solid, steady, rhythmic beat that builds up the song that you can not help but embrace it. The vocals becomes intertwined with these beats, creating a very tense atmosphere.

The voices begin to overlap. “I know what to do, I’m going to lose my mind” is the lyric that dominates the song and it fits perfectly.  Suddenly, the song goes from tension to confusion without any sign of release.

By the three minute mark, the tension still remains. However, there is now an awesome sound of supersonic distortion added to the mix.

The song is hypnotic. You can’t help but dance to this. Its consistent, powerful, and you will feel you are going to lose your mind.

O2 have created an ad campaign featuring a cute yet creepy little blue rabbit. In the advert you see people following multiple blue rabbits to a roaring crowd and pulsating light beneath a railway bridge. The advert uses The Chemical Brothers - EML Ritual from their 2015 album Born in the Echoes.
