Sorey’s New Incarnation
Sorey enters the sanctuary where the festival is held and discovers that the Sacred Blade houses the spirit of a beautiful seraph, Lailah. Just as the festival is beginning, a disturbance orchestrated by Alisha’s enemies breaks out, and the sanctuary fills with hellions and black flames. Things look bad. Sorey rushes up to seize the Sacred Blade, but Lailah’s spirit holds him back. She tells him: if he pulls out the Sacred Blade and makes a pact with her, he can be a Shepherd. Yet he must realize that the life’s work of a Shepherd is a long, solitary struggle...
But Sorey just grins, telling Lailah his dream is to find a way for humans and seraphim to live in harmony. If achieving that dream means purifying hellions, he says, then he is ready. Sorey’s words display the purity of heart Lailah has been awaiting for years. Effortlessly, he withdraws the Blade, and Lailah willingly bestows her power upon him. The Blade unleashes a Silver Flame to purify malevolence, felling one hellion after the next. The riot is calmed. Everyone celebrates Sorey’s new incarnation as the Shepherd, not least of all Alisha.

Festival Frolics in a Floating City
Sorey and Mikleo reach the floating city of Ladylake. As the town bustles with excitement over the Sacred Blade Festival, where it is said one who pulls the sword from the stone will become the Shepherd, they discover that Alisha is part of the Hyland royal family. Their first glimpse of the “land below” is surprising, not least because it is swarming with hellions. Regular humans can’t see them any more than seraphim, but their influence is spreading. Sorey begins to understand what Alisha meant about disasters, but he has no idea what to do about it...
Sorey and Mikleo track down the fox hellion and challenge it, but soon find that things are much more difficult without Gramps’ protection. Unexpectedly, a group of mysterious assassins steps in to help, managing to restrain Lunarre, the raging hellion. They tell Sorey that they had taken a request to assassinate Alisha, but later realized that doing to would be a mistake. There is definitely someone out there meaning to harm Alisha, though. If Sorey is worried about her, they advice, he’d better hurry to where the Sacred Blade lies. And with that, they vanish like the wind...

Enter the Knight! Enter the... Half-Fox
Elysia, the town where Sorey grew up, is inhabited by a slightly exotic race known as the seraphim, who are invisible to regular humans. Only humans with strong “resonance”, like Sorey, can perceive them. As such, Sorey’s actions appear extremely bizarre to the female knight, to whom this is all new and foreign. Nevertheless, she can’t help feeling a natural affection for the pure-hearted boy who interacts with her so guilelessly as he helps her prepare for her journey home.
The day they set off, the knight apologizes to Sorey for being cautious around him and tells him her name: Alisha, Se explains she has been trying to find out more about the legend of the Shepherd, in hopes of putting an end to the spate of disasters in the land below. A Sacred Blade Festival based upon this legend will be help in her city soon, she says. She encourages Sorey to come and then leaves, telling Sorey that he reminds her a lot of the Shepherd. Suddenly, a most terrifying hellion descends upon Elysia, leaving Sorey no time to think about what she means...
Half-man and half-fox, the hellion was apparently originally a human. With the assistance of the seraphim, Sorey and Mikleo manage to banish the ghastly creature, yet they suspect that its designs were not on Elysia after all, but on something else entirely...

A Stormy Encounter
Today, like most days, young Sorey is exploring the Mabinogio ruins in the clouds with his oldest friend Mikleo, a seraph. It's their favorite pastime. Luck is clearly on Sorey's side, as he discovers a mural of the Shepherd, a legendary savior who appears in Sorey's beloved legend collection, the Celestial Record. The young man is extremely pleased with himself. Suddenly, however, thunder echoes out across the sea of clouds. A bad storm is brewing. Sorey and Mikleo make to escape, but they get swept up in the crumbling rocks and fall into the depths of the ruins.
Unexpectedly finding himself in the heart of the ruins, Sorey spies what looks like a human form in the distance, lying on the ground. But this sure doesn't seem like the sort of place that regular humans would come wandering into, thinks Sorey to himself. In any case, he can't just ignore the person in trouble. He decides to venture further into the ruins to see if he can be of help.
Sorey and Mikleo venture further into the ruins, battling the hellions created by all the malevolence. Outwitting the traps in their way, they finally reach the figure they had spotted from a distance. It is a female knight, collapsed on the ground. The knight regains consciousness, but she cannot see Mikleo. It seems she is just an ordinary human. Mikleo is wary of the knight, who says she is from a nearby town but refuses to give her name. Sorey, however, volunteers to help her. "I can't just abandon someone in need," he says to Mikleo.

KINSHIP
Kinship, as one of the Second Sphere Powers charged with defeating evil beings, is responsible for transporting the forces of Paradiso onto the battlefield. Leading countless angels to the front lines, catching sight of Kinship's magnificent flying appearance is analogous to many as the arrival of true happiness.
It is thought that Kinship is the angelic manifestation of the ark that saved a foolish human race from the devastating flood described in The Book of Creation within the scriptures of Ithavoll.

SAPIENTIA
Artists have often depicted the Cardinal Virtue of Prudence, Sapientia, as a marine animal roaming the depths of the sea. This is likely due to the human disposition to characterize the sea as the source of all life, a veritable fountain of prudence and wisdom.
It is also thought that Sapientia is responsible for the rise and fall of the tides, and natural phenomena such as tsunamis. The grand idea that the living seas could be nothing other than the Divine Will at work is actually evidence of Sapientia's narcissism, even amongst the other Cardinal Virtues.
When a man born as a slave led his people to freedom from ruling oppression, it is said that it was only Sapientia's favor that parted the seas and allowed for their escape.

BELOVED
Beloved is a member of the Second Sphere class Powers, ranked sixth in the angelic hierarchy. Its status is more that of a spiritual being, but it is also burdened with destroying the enemies of Paradiso. While still considered amongst the lower classes of angels, Beloved's power is of a far higher-order than that of a human, and even those with strong spiritual powers are seldom afforded the chance to meet this being. Excelling in combat, Beloved are known for brilliant exploits in demonic battles.

GRACE & GLORY
Grace, draped in flame, and Glory, controller of lightning, are the twin escorts of the Creator. They share a wild disposition and are often depicted as gods of war, heroically leading the soldiers of Paradiso into battle, with their giant claw-like weapons being symbols of their ferocity. Humanity recognizes the increased spiritual power of twins, a power that comes from the blessings of Grace and Glory.

FAIRNESS
A Virtue charged with the administration of miracles, it is wrapped in flames when appearing in the physical world, a power emblematic of its courage. A torrent of flame blazing as bright as the sun, these flames become the light that burns away darkness from those who receive the graces of a Fairness. However, for those out of the angel's good graces, they are the fire and brimstone of destruction.

FORTITUDO
Amongst the spiritually powerful of the Middle Ages, it was thought Paradiso held for all a Divine Will, and as a result, they developed heavenly logic. The concept of the "Cardinal Virtues" was born of this logic, and classifies Paradiso's Divine Will into four broad groups.
These Cardinal Virtues occasionally become physical manifestations of the great intentions of Paradiso, and are known as the Laguna, inspiring awe in the masses. Personifying courage and fortitude, Fortitudo has been depicted as a terrifying being sporting an enormous face and two dragon's heads. He is said to be capable of summoning magma flows at will.

DECORATIONS
With limited spiritual powers, this angel is spotted comparatively frequently within the physical, human world. Dears, with their dignified faces, are surrounded by the countless childlike faces of their Decorations.
Capriciously firing arrows, they are often mistaken for Cupid. It is said that one of their arrows, shot through the heart of a believer, can be as infatuating as the goddess of love.

APPLAUD
While still a member of the Third Sphere, Applauds are one step above Affinities, and thus known as Archangels. Occupying the eighth position within the nine-level Angelic Hierarchy, Archangels are still considered close to the physical world, and often come into contact with human kind. It is said that devoted prayer on the part of believers can call upon a flock of angels to come to one's aid.

AFFINITY
Servants of Heaven that populate the lowest of the angelic hierarchy, a Third Sphere rung known simply as Angels. Humans with deep faith often feel these angels closest to their hearts. Descending from the heavens upon their pure white wings, it is believed that the glimmering halo atop an Affinity's head lights the path for those who have lost their way.
The religious articles they equip are all tools used to further their conviction to protect the righteous and can become powerful weapons used to strike down those with sullied hearts.

ALLEGIANCE
Allegiance belongs to the Principalities, ranked seventh in the angelic hierarchy and part of the Third Sphere. While Third Sphere angels are the most common type encountered in the physical realm, Allegiance, clad in solid gold armor, appears only during times of strife between Paradiso and the human world, in order to purge the armies of evil spirits.
Legends exist of Allegiance appearing before the kings of feudal nations who have prayed for the emergence of a hero; however, there are also stories of Allegiance seeing through the evil in these kings' hearts and instantly reducing their thrones to rubble.

GOLEM
A biological weapon made by the God of Chaos as a means of protecting his city.
It is able to freely shapeshift into countless biological creatures, accessing their signatures and morphing its liquid metal body into their form. Upon encountering an invader, Golem immediately analyzes the threat level and switches to the most appropriate battle form for their disposal.
With the God of Chaos presently absent, it is still said to lie dormant, ready to obliterate those who would carelessly enter Aesir's realm.
