Greyhound Horror Story
I rarely bash anyone. I usually am pretty even minded about what I write so that no one feels like I have negative feelings about their service, but this last bus trip from Michigan was a trainwreck of no show drivers and disabled buses.
After an uneventful and very pleasant ride from Kentucky to Michigan I spent two fabulous weeks visiting my family. The fun was contagious and so was the little…

Kashmir, beautiful mountains, valleys, and loving people are being threatened by India and war is potentially looming. Why does a simple area have such a volatile situation happening to it? Greed, India wants the fertile lands for its self and Pakistan wants to keep this area as part of their country. There is no reason for this war to take place. India needs to go back into its own country and leave this area alone. There has been a struggle over this area since 1947 and now it is escalating again.
There are jets flying over and dropping bombs to frighten the people into surrendering the city. It is a terrible horrifying situation. What’s to stop them from attacking other border cities. The fear is real. Pay attention to the news this less often mentioned struggle is brewing and should be watched closely.
Yesterday two jets were shot down over the area and Pakistan closed its air space to keep marauding Indians from attacking again. The pilots in one plane died in the crash and one other pilot was captured alive while the fourth was taken to a hospital for care. The town of Kashmir should not have to cower in fear from jets flying overhead potentially to drop bombs on the citizens. Not to mention the mortars being shot over the country lines to keep the Kashmir citizens afraid.
I am sure that the people in Pakistan feel the same fear we did on 9/11 when the skies became an instrument of terror. My heart breaks for these innocent people as war creeps closer and closer to them through no fault of their own. Remember these people in your thoughts and prayers. They have to fear for the lives of their children.
Imagine the Fear in Pakistan Kashmir, beautiful mountains, valleys, and loving people are being threatened by India and war is potentially looming.

I’ve noticed at four am every morning I am woken up by the eleven-year-old. He is desperate enough to make noises until I creep awake from sleep. Tapping his toes on the hardwood floor, I have no recourse but lead him to the bathroom. There is where it all goes wrong.
Once that door opens he darts through and I lose him to the dark. He creeps around the circumference of the house blending into the shadows and walking on little cat feet. Suddenly his nails are silent and his fifty pounds are invisible. He has escaped.
I give the stage whisper, “Come back here. Get in here, I mean now. ”
It’s too late he has become the street runner the renegade that answers to no one. This well-mannered boy is not responding to a word I say. He has tasted freedom these last weeks of four am adventures and he is not going to be corralled by the likes of me. Tonight he is the curfew breaker with the don’t give a damn attitude. Rules are forgotten, his spirit is free and the coolness of the morning spurs him on.
I do what women have done over the ages, I sit in my chair with the door cracked ever so slightly waiting to hear the tapping of his bare feet on the stairs. I wait worried and annoyed. It is four am who else is sitting up waiting on their wayward boy to show back up after an early morning escape.
Perhaps I am an enabler, I could work harder at containing him and make sure he stays right there at the door, but somehow I love that this silent guy makes his getaway by moonlight every morning at four am. I secretly relish his free spirit during his twenty minutes of complete freedom.
He is such a house boy and this is such a rarity, so, I wait in my chair annoyed, sleepy, yet understanding the need to run free on occasion. I too have had my four am escapes and I know how much they mean to a twenty-three hour a day, law-abiding eleven-year-old Australian Shepherd.
The Four AM Renegade I've noticed at four am every morning I am woken up by the eleven-year-old. He is desperate enough to make noises until I creep awake from sleep.

5 Star Review For Pup in Training
5 Star Review For Pup in Training
Pup in Training received a five-star review from Prairies Book Reviews today and what a wonderful feeling that was. I am adding it to the editorial review on Amazon. This review was so well constructed and where it could have dinged me for using large words in a children’s book it rewarded me for having a vocabulary activity in the back. An outstanding feeling when a professional reviewer sees 5…

Mania How it Works and How you can Work With it
Mania How it Works and How you can Work With it
Mania sounds simple enough. I mean how many of us heard our mother telling us not to run around like a maniac. I know mine did. Little did she know, that one day she would find out I truly struggled with Mania. Does that make me a maniac? I hope not, but it probably does. (more…)

Anxiety Creeps in on Little Cat Feet
Anxiety Creeps in on Little Cat Feet
When the mania is high, I struggle with anxiety that comes creeping in like a fog. It sneaks up on me and causes me to feel dread. The overpowering sensation of being stopped at a red light and hearing the car behind you closing in with brakes squealing and no chance of stopping before it hits you.
That sinking feeling in your stomach that means doom is on the horizon and there is not a darn…

Shame on Amazon for Messing up Goodreads Giveaways
Shame on Amazon for Messing up Goodreads Giveaways
Goodreads is tainted
Goodreads used to be a great tool for authors, but now that Amazon owns them not so much. The author now has to pay to run a giveaway which is unfair as they are already paying for the printed books as well as postage and shipping. This leaves Indie authors at a disadvantage.

When I first relocated to Winchester Kentucky I had no clue that it was so close to the home of Daniel and Rebecca Boone. I used to watch reruns of Daniel Boone with my Grandparents and loved that show.
I loved Ed Ames as well as Fess Parker. My sister and I were secret Ed Ames karaoke singers before karaoke was invented. We were the brush handle, faux microphone, singing to the top of our lungs, “My Cup Runneth Over with Love,” girls. Oh yeah, we were those girls.
So I feel a connection with Daniel Boone. He was a man, yes a big man. I loved his coonskin cap and I especially loved the pretty dainty Rebecca. She was the mother I always wanted to be. Rebecca was always smiling for her husband, a wonderfully calm and cheerful mother. Mrs. Boone had everything I wanted as an adult.
When I moved here and realized that I was just a few miles from the fort I wanted to see it. We took a self-tour through Fort Boonesborough and I just didn’t equate it to the life I saw Daniel Boone having. So much for memories of a seven-year-old girl. They seemed to be skewed. But I still loved the fort. The small cabins that sat boxy and right next to one another. A square of houses, meeting places, store and church/school. It had it all.
Fort Boonesboro hosts a Christmas event where you can see how Christmas was celebrated back in the 1700s and that’s a trip worth taking. It truly is like going back in time. They provide berries, fruits of the season, preserved elk, deer, and other game from the area if you are a meat eater. When I first went I was a meat eater and I tasted the elk. I was surprised that it wasn’t as gamey as deer. That’s my personal evaluation though. Many might find it gamey. I found it smokey and pretty tasty.
There were also musicians there playing the old instruments of the time. Dancers were there in period clothing and quilts were hung on the community house walls. The path that connected all the tiny square of row houses was lit by luminaries and it was like stepping back in time. The Fort Boonesborough Foundation has done a wonderful job of preserving this site.
If you ever are near Lexington Kentucky, I highly recommend a visit to historic Winchester to find where Daniel Boone actually lived. It is a great place to bring the kids as well. There is a park with swimming and camping.

I admit I love the internet. Knowing I can log in to my laptop or phone and instantly connect to someone in Pakistan, Australia, Canada, Brazil, India, Saudi Arabia, or Ireland means the world to me. It allows me to stretch my knowledge of how other people live.
Pakistan has been the biggest cultural difference to me and I have just fallen in love with the friendliness and intelligence of these people. Their faith is at the root of their culture and everything they do on a daily basis reflects that faith. We have all seen Muslims kneeling facing east but really there is more to it than simple kneeling. There is an entire exercise regiment that goes with it. Their positioning is as much health based as a religion based action. Isn’t that cool?
They unexpectedly respect other faiths and do not insist on conversion as many Western religions They do want you to convert, they pray for your conversion but they do not force it. The cleanliness of the people, their foods, their cities, are amazing. I want to go to this country one day and see how friendly they are in person. Every blogger that has visited has fallen in love with these gentle and friendly people.
My friend in Pakistan I’ll call him Babu. Has been so generous with his time and knowledge and has embraced getting to know about my family and friends as I have his. Sure there might be a little internet crush on this side of the world, but who does that hurt? He is adorable and quite handsome. Babu lives in Lahore and wow is my knowledge about that city expanding. They are a modern and ancient city mixed together. Most bloggers take you to the old part of the city markets. That kind of annoys Babu because it leaves a stone age mentality in our minds. I actually thought most of Pakistan was a desert now I see it is oceans and mountains and rich fertile lands. I spend a lot of time thinking about this country. I even bought some pink salt direct from Pakistan.
This land of a kind and loving people that know they are a third world country and strive to break away from that.
Their money is used in unappreciated ways by a Government that like ours doesn’t always reflect the people’s will. But unlike ours, they struggle against their own poverty and lack. Lack of medicines and lack of opportunities. They don’t lack in drive and ambition though.
They have the highest percentage of doctors exported in the world. They are brains and skillfully trained. Then they go on to care for their own people or move to other countries and care for the people there. Babu plans on coming to America to complete his residency and I am selfish I hope he stays here and finds a wonderful life here in the States.
Not all hospitals take residents that immigrate but still in all there are several choices for him to apply. I hope he chooses one near me. I would love to meet him in person and take him out to show him the beauty of Kentucky that he has shared with me about Pakistan. A word of warning Babu, don’t expect to find 11 million people here in the entire state of Kentucky like you have in the city of Lahore. We only have four million statewide.
When you log into the computer remember you can reach anywhere in the world. You might just find your new best friend waiting for you at the other side of the chat box. I know I have.
Want to know what I learned about Brazil? Stay tuned.
Online Friends From Around the World I admit I love the internet. Knowing I can log in to my laptop or phone and instantly connect to someone in Pakistan, Australia, Canada, Brazil, India, Saudi Arabia, or Ireland means the world to me.
