An honorable human relationship — that is, one in which two people have the right to use the word “love” — is a process, delicate, violent, often terrifying to both persons involved, a process of refining the truths they can tell each other. It is important to do this because it breaks down human self-delusion and isolation. It is important to do this because in doing so we do justice to our own complexity. It is important to do this because we can count on so few people to go that hard way with us. That these possibilities may seem frightening, but not destructive, to me. That I feel strong enough to hear your tentative and groping words. That we both know we are trying, all the time, to extend the possibilities of truth between us. The possibility of life between us.

I am sitting in a chair and there are too many people around me all circling and walking around and someone walks up and I'm buzzing I'm electric they put a pretty egg in my mouth (shell intact) they say "ok now hold it there but don't crack it" I am running a temperature that isn't a fever more like a match I accidentally dropped at my feet but it's not a problem I've just slowly started this fire but it's not a problem can you make sure and just let everyone know it's not a problem. But my head sounds like the ocean that crackly loud CRAZHHHWOOOOOSH sound and I'm still on fire and I'm still buzzing and the buzzing is HOT HOT HOT and I think I need help I think I should ask for help but the tricky part the tricky part is. I'm still not allowed to crack the egg.

Today, on Martin Luther King, Jr.'s birthday, I would like to remind you not

to forget that King’s family pursued a court case against the US in 1999 for assassinating MLK Jr. and WON. That’s a fact that is always conveniently left out of history books. Don’t let them turn him into their own personal puppet doll that says “I have a dream” when you pull the string, please.
