The journey still in front of me enlightenment and clarity so long as I don't fill my mind with hatred fear or too much weed. I lay my forehead on my knees and and ask myself in a raspy squeak if maybe what I'm meant for is to help the others find their peace. So please when you open your mouth to speak, know the danger that you in if you bagging on the weak we bust yo teeth and greet yo fleet with that old Bruce Lee, and make you flee. Bleh

The FCC eliminated the rules keeping media conglomerates from forming. There used to be the original major network tv studios which would air the major sitcoms and shows. These would be licensed to privately owned tv stations all over the country. These privately owned stations were owned by people who lived in the community and they had an ethical responsibility to provide news and information that was unbiased and honest. They were part of the free market and as such, could be punished by the community if they weren't doing their jobs. In 1996, Bill Clinton introduced a new Telecommuncations Act which allowed the corporations to buy out every privately owned station and take them over as network affiliates. This essentially plundered the independent stations by forcing them into submission. Why it's bad is because Information is important & knowledge is power. Whoever controls the spread of information or what kind of information controls it's majority audience. The US & Canada are locked under a media oligarchy that consists of tv, movies, radio, recording, publishing including newspapers and textbooks and in a lot of cases even community newspapers. And all their friends are really big into things like banking, real estate, manufacturing, energy, etc, and just happen to advertise through their networks. It's all about money. How to fight them is by using information against them. Instead of wasting time protesting in some park, actively rally your community to force legislation repealing the telecommunications act and forcing the major networks to sell the stations back to locally owned co-ops. Start local news sites. Find junior reporters from your local schools and give them free reign as long as they uphold journalistic ethics. Hell, make an easy to use wordpress theme and enlist a team of web developers willing to provide an open source online newspaper for people who aren't web saavy. TV is a decayed medium. The internet is still free enough that people can take back what the corporations and the lobbyists stole. You have to beat them at their own game though.
