Me and a basket in a field of Dandelions. It’s weird though, I’m wearing shoes which is so not like me. But, hey, they are red and that counts for something anyway.

I know she’s not a flower but, come on, look at this sweet soul! Mocha JoJo. Hanging out with me once while I was having my morning coffee, she took a sip and the name stuck. Love this gal!

Pineapple weed! ☀️ A petal-less flower when crushed, has the scent of pineapple. As calming as the Chamomile but not related.  A lovely flower that gets a really bad rap from those who consider it a “weed”. I don’t care what anyone says, I love this gal. She is resilient, beautiful and smells like Hawaii. A welcoming scent here in New England.

Lady slipper being all shy like. 💖 For some reason the Lady slippers in my secret Ladyslipper patch were much paler in color than previous years. I feel as if the fairies were sad and didn’t want to make themselves known this year. It’s no wonder they are sad, because this unique woodland orchid is at-risk.

Bunch berries (Cornus canadensis) aka ground dogwood. 💚 Whenever I come across these babies, I feel like I should see a black bear sleeping among them. It turns out, the bunchberry fruit is a food they love to munch on when they are ripe in summer. I wonder if I subconsciously sensed the bear’s presence.

St. Hildegard’s wort emerging in spring.☀️💛☀️ Let me tell ya, I’m a bit done with plants named after men (and a few other things). This lovely gal deserves Hildegard’s name.

Downy Yellow Violet ☀️💛☀️ A beautiful woodland wildflower. Careful not to step on her, she likes to hang out in the middle of the trails.

Amphibian spring migration. 🐸🦎Unfortunately, their age old paths have been covered by roads. We humans can help them get to the vernal pools to breed and lay their eggs by giving them a ride. Migration happens in early spring evenings when it’s 40+ degrees and raining.

Bloodroot (Sanguinaria canadensis). Please be gentle with her. She’s At-Risk. I would love to try and make a Bloodroot salve, but folks, it just isn’t worth it. Taking photos and leaving nothing but love and respect.
