every few days i muster up the courage to write a fight scene and then halfway in i think i need a reference to watch before i continue writing but i never watch one and the scene never gets finished lmao

i will spend ages working on writing dialogue, making sure everything is perfect. is it natural? does it fit the character? is that what an actual human sounds like? and the dialogue is literally "hi."

tell me why every time i want to go to sleep there are suddenly amazing plot points and dialogue in my head but when i get up the ideas are GONE. come back cowards

Second day of inktober, today’s theme was discovery!

i can always tell when a writer was probably kicking their feet and giggling at a line they wrote because i’m doing the same thing and applauding them for such an amazing sequence of words

something way more compelling than tragic backstories imo is mortal flaws— an internal flaw so severe that it hinders them in moments of conflict, pushes them deeper into “rock bottom,” and changes their perception of themselves and the world around them. this isn’t a new concept at all but i love it so much… like, make your characters prideful, suspicious, optimistic, indifferent, loyal, etc to their own detriment. make them suffer because of their flaws— ones they may not even realize they have in the first place or deny having at all.
