Keto and Me!
Hello again! Hope you are all doing well!
I left off my last post discussing why I choose keto as a diet to for my healthy living goals. This post will provide some insight as to some of the challenges I faced while I was on it! So lets get right into it.
The Beginning...
Going into a new diet I needed to do my research, what my goals were that I wanted to achieve (lose weight, find a diet that I can sustain, etc..) and decide from there. When I found out the positive affects that keto had on supressing your appetite, fitness levels, and the affects it had on weight loss, I felt that it was something that I could try and would help me achieve my goals. The most difficult part for me was the transition into Keto; you essentially needed to train your body to use your fats storage as fuel instead of carbs! Not an easy task!
The challenging aspect about this switch-a-roo was the impact it had on your body. I had moments of EXTREME hunger from not knowing exactly what I should eat, which led to irritability, and fatigue. From there, I got what was called “The Keto Flu” which was symptoms you will experience when your body switches to using fat as fuel. I know what your thinking, this diet sounds like a nightmare! Do not give up on me just yet! I promise it gets better!
The Great Adaptation!
After 2 weeks, my body was in full ketosis! During this time, I felt better than ever, I was more alert, had more energy, and most importantly I already started seeing results with my weight loss goals! I know I sound like the infomercials trying to get you to buy some fat loss pill but, in all honesty, it was a shock to me how great this diet made me feel.
The great thing about Keto is that it really helps you to be informed on what you are putting in your body. I was constantly checking nutritional facts to ensure that whatever I was eating would not disrupt being in ketosis or take me out of it for that matter.  Weight loss came due to the intake of more protein, eating more meats with higher fat made me feel full for a longer period, supressing my hunger leading to not over-eating.
With my fitness, my cardiovascular level was through the roof! I was running longer, and my body felt great! Being in keto gave me so much confidence!
The Keto Experience.
Overall, being on keto helped me in so many ways. Mentally, physically, and emotionally. Being able to commit to a diet like keto made me feel the confidence I didn’t know I had.  Just like all diets it is never easy, but one thing I always reminded myself was that it was all part of the process. I took every day, day by day because that is all I can control.
I hope that you were able to take some insight from my experience to assist you in deciding whether this diet will assist you with your goals too!
Make sure to tune in for my next post where I will provide some great tips to accelerate getting into ketosis and what my meal plan looked like!
Bye for now!!

Welcome to my Blog!
Hi my name is Dustin Yngreso, I am so glad you have taken the time stop by my blog to see what it’s all about!  In a nut shell my blogs purpose is to somewhat guide you through what it is like to be on a ketogenic diet.  I will be sharing with you my experience being on keto myself, as well as some tips, and other individual experiences as well! Let get right into it!
The big question is “what is Keto?!?!”
Well the word keto is short for “ketogenic”. This diet is when you eat a higher amount of fat and your body adapts to using your fat storage for fuel instead of carbohydrates. When your body adjusts to this method you slip into “Ketosis”.
“Why go on keto?!?”
An article written by Dr. Eric Berg in February 2017, states that there are 7 benefits to being on a ketogenic diet which are:
1.       Using your own fat for fuel
2.       Produces the most weight loss of any diet (Targets belly fat)
3.       Aid in having exceptional memory
4.       Improves your mood
5.       Get rid of cravings and hunger
6.       Fixes your metabolism
7.       And aids in fixing issues with insulin.
Although there are only 7 that Dr. Berg mentions, he has many more insights on keto that you can look into on his website at www.drberg.com.
“Why did I choose to go on Keto?”
Struggling with diets and keeping weight off has always been my downfall.  I would go on regular diets but I would consistently get off track and get back to eating delicious sweets and foods that were essentially a “no-no”. I tried different diets over the years but I just couldn’t cut out the cravings that I had for sweets! (I have a really bad sweet tooth!!) .
I had a discussion with my good friend (you will meet through my blog!) about how I had no problem hitting the gym but couldn’t get a strangle hold on my eating habits!!  He told me to look into keto and it was the best decision I have made! Being on keto not only changed me physically but as well as, emotionally and mentally!
Through my experience on the ketogenic diet I have gone through many highs and lows, all of which I will be sharing with you through this blog! I hope you enjoy my content! Stay tuned for my next post where I will be sharing in depth my experience with keto!
