I'm a Web Design student who can't decide if I'm a nerd or a geek, and I hope to become a comic artist or a novelist someday. For now though I'm just gonna stick to blogging. I'm wide open for questions, comments, requests, and anything else please mail me anything it gets boring

I just don’t get why this kind of thing happens. So many people I know IRL will tolerate people who have different views, such as a non-religious person talking with someone who celebrates Christmas in a religious way, and they not only tolerate but will sometimes join in. And yet, in public settings everyone’s afraid to show their own opinions. I’ve even seen a college professor decide to not talk about Global Warming.
Is it just that the internet is giving these very vocal minorities a megaphone, or are these Intolerant folks more common than I thought?

A comic about digital versus print
I’ve heard a lot of debate about eBooks, print, and the like. Well, I found this comic that says exactly what I was thinking. Only difference is that I’m more used to white letters on black background, which I only started doing just to save battery. (Seems to be pretty effective, btw, try it sometime.)

A good conversation about preserving web content. Everyone should be able to see Strong Bad -Emily
I agree, and not just about HomeStar Runner. As a developer-in-training and a wannabe artist, there’s nothing sadder than a wonderful animation that just doesn’t work on what seems to be becoming the most common platform out there.
Funny, I wonder why it doesn’t seem that Adobe’s making Flash for Android or iOS. I mean, the development world is all “Sayonara flash, and hellooooo HTML5! ... Oh wait, you wanted to see that animation?”
I wonder if there’s a way to fix that................ TO THE INTERNET!
Next time I have a chance I’m going to see if this thing called Swiffy works on HomeStar Runner.

Man, it seems like the guys who don’t know anything at all have all the fun!
Then again, now that I think about it, being a n00b does suck in some scenarios...
(This is XKCD #1053, titled Ten Thousand. I love the comic, but occasionally you find a not-so-kid-friendly one, so heads up.)

Idea: Browser designed for low cell data
I have an awesome idea for how to save data on browsing: Only using the essentials, until the user asks for a specific item.
For each page, only the HTML and CSS are downloaded. It would draw a rectangle for images and wait until the user taps it to reveal it. Scripts are not downloaded until the user requests it, possibly by tapping a button added to the bottom of pages that involve scripts.
The idea for replacing images involves using HTML or CSS height/width properties, and selecting a color by picking a contrasting one from the CSS document. Just pick one intended for background for another element, or the color for text if that fails. Images should have a little transparent icon in the middle, and if tapped would request the image.
Long-tapping or right-clicking a link could have an option to download all linked files,
One other minor idea: The tabs and frame take on the color of the page background to help make it easier to identify what tab is what page, for those using tiny screens.
Is this project a good idea? I really hope this takes off

Wooly Mammoth Genes Inserted into Elephant Cells
Researchers from Harvard University have successfully inserted genes from a woolly mammoth into living cells from an Asian elephant, the extinct giant’s closest remaining relative.

Forgetting, Keeps
I work at a public library that is also a Post Office. One day, a man at the desk began to lament the fact that his friend couldn’t remember his new address.
Man: “He must have anorexia or something!”
Me: “Anorexia?”
Man: “Yeah, because he keeps forgetting.”
