Haitian Vodou is an assimilated mixture of Roman Catholic rituals developed during the French colonial period, based on traditional African beliefs, with roots in Dahomey, Kongo and Yoruba traditions, and folkloric influence from the indigenous Taino peoples of Haiti.

The Hoodoo Masterpost
Given how hard it is to find reliable hoodoo/rootwork/conjure resources on Tumblr, I’m working on this compilation of as many posts, spells, tutorials, and informative posts as I can find! The vast majority of them were written by Africana, Afro-Latinx, or Latinx witches, rootworkers, and priests/priestesses.
All credit goes to the original authors of each post and resource. Please message me if you want something added/removed for any reason!

Varishava was known as many things through the ages. She was a scholar, a witch, a monster, a hero and a myth. The tales that have been whispered about her makes one wonder what the truth is.
My name is Saena Varishava, direct descendant and perhaps the last of the Varishava bloodline. It has been said that my blood has magical properties that still remain, though recent generations have done nothing more than peek into the dark to see what those properties can be.
Currently, I find myself in Vabbi. There are rumors of several tomes of ancient origin that could give me some more insight on what she was working on before she disappeared.
The woman known as Saena sat and watched the ink drying on the parchment. It was to be the start of a record, something to refer to as she traveled. She had to be careful of how much she wrote down.
Not all truths are meant to be told.
