You know, it just dawned on me. If Calypso's birthday had been what it was supposed to be - Lucius and Pete's wedding party - the whole Izzy's performance would have been so so so so so so much less jarring.
It doesn't fit for him to suddenly put on makeup and sing at a random party. It just doesn't. A wedding of two crew members though? With one of whom they were having an arc going through both seasons? Yeah, I can see that. And that transition from "ooooh daddy" to "la vie en rose" would have made his other upcoming U-turns that bit less abrupt.
