Almost exactly one year ago, my Dad made fun of some some cosplayers heading to the annual anime convention. This single mention sent me on the following sequence of thoughts and actions:

Remembering that I always wanted to go to anime conventions back in high school but was scared of my family disapproving.

Realizing that, now that I'm an adult with my own car and money, I can go without even telling anyone.

Realizing that, if I went, I'd want to cosplay.

Realizing that, even though I thought of myself as male at the time, the only cosplay that was appealing to me were female characters, specifically Hitori Gotoh from Bocchi the Rock.

Studying and practicing makeup to see if I could pass as a woman, specifically Hitori.

Despairing that I would never know enough makeup to pass as a woman.

Realizing from the crippling dysphoria I was suddenly feeling (and a bunch of other shit that I'd repressed for years) that I was trans.

Coming out to a bunch of people.

Getting laser hair removal.

Going on HRT.

Buying a $32.99 Hitori Gotoh cosplay set.

Buying a ticket for the local anime convention.

And tomorrow I'll go to the convention wearing the cosplay that sparked my transition. Thank you, Bocchi!

Jesus christ im growing up and i realised that there will come a time that I will be attending people's weddings, visiting other people for certain events, all that grown up kinda stuff. the david zwirner gallery and the felix gonzalez torres foundation in the smithsonian removed the descriptive plaque for portrait of ross in la by felix gonzalez-torres. the old plaque explained portrait for ross' origins as the artist's partner's aids related death, and replaced it with a plaque with absolutely no information about the piece itself, who ross was, or who gonzalez-torres was either. portrait of ross was also reeranged to lay on the floor long ways instead of in a pile as it typically is situated, and the plaque outside the exhibition FOR GONZALEZ-TORRES omits his sexuality, as well as his aids related death. i'm in utter disbelief

I just got described as an "ad hating commie" by someone because I said a minute of youtube ads is unpleasant. fully spent 5 minutes arguing and defending youtube ads. insane stuff

Friend: A house representative is trying to make a new amendment so Trump can run another term. The wording goes that only a president who has had a non-consecutive term can run for a third term of 4 years.

Me: at that point, I'd rather exhume Grover Cleveland and nominate him for third term
