☢ ;; She didn’t turn him away–that was the best news he had received all day. A smile flickered at the corners of his mouth, and he nodded quickly when her question finally reached him. “Yeah, yeah she’s out this way. Again, I’m like, really sorry about this.”
Kicker turned and immediately went out the door, hoping that the mechanic was following him. The Minicon had been tucked away behind a large pickup truck and a beat-up dumpster, far out of view from the street ahead. And, just as he described, her front left wheel was twisted back at an awkward angle, one that appeared to be incredibly painful to him. Dulled blue metal had been crumpled inward, and a number of her more foreign components could be seen just beneath it. Dread and regret pooled in his heart, and it was all he could do to simply lay a hand on one of her headlights.
“It’s… probably just as bad as it looks,” he murmured, fighting down a fit of frustration that threatened to overtake his thoughts. “So, uh, do you think you can help?” If not, then he wasn’t quite certain what he could do for his friend; without the skills to work on Minicons himself, Sureshock was likely to stay this way.
Mikaela whistled, a low, sound that hung in the humid air between her and Kicker. He certainly hadn’t been exaggerating.
The vehicle that sat before her had certainly seen better days. The metal that made up the bonnet and front wing of the car had simply been crushed. Cold tendrils wrapped themselves around Mikaela’s steady heart as she thought of the force, or being that could cause that kind of damage to a sturdy looking vehicle.
She lowered herself to her knees, running a calloused hand down one fender and across the front left tyre, which had been the first thing to catch her practised eye. It was turned right out, almost at a 90 degree angle to the car. She leaned down to take a closer look and saw the axle had broken perfectly in two.
She walked quickly around the rest of the car, quietly assessing the damage. It really was beyond helping, but Mikaela liked nothing more than a challenge.
She turned to Kicker, offering a weak smile. “So, do you want the bad news, or the worse news?”

i would follow that girl to the ends of the earth until my feet bled and my lungs burned, and when she turned back to ask if i was tired, i would tell her that all it takes is the sound of her voice to keep me alive

Guys in full-bodied Lycra suits? She thought she’d left that behind when she left California. Mikaela sighed, running her hands through her raven hair.
“Excuse me. I need to get past.”

“Hello?” Mikaela called over her shoulder, the wind carrying her voice into the recesses of the dark alleyway. She sighed, collecting her hair in a ponytail at the nape of her neck. “Whatever,” she mumbled, mounting her bike and starting the engine.
