Writing Jewish Characters (The Pitt)
hey y'all, (this is a bit of rant) i see a lot of people writing the pitt fanfics where robby's a dad, which i love! in many of these fics his kids are named after him or someone still alive. robby is a jewish character and something that is very different about judaism than other religions is that children are never named after someone alive. the general idea is that the angel of death could get confused. i know that there isn't tons of knowledge known about judaism so it totally makes sense for people to make these mistakes, but robby is jewish and i believe it's an important part of his character.
if anyone has any questions about judaism please ask me, your local jew!
edit: I am half sephardic and half ashkenazi (what robby is) so thats where my knowledge mostly comes from
#fics where his kid is named michael jr have never sat right with me bc I think he’d be weirded out by naming a kid after himself#and then learning this really confirmed that feeling for me#the pitt#dr robby

Trinity mentioning the show Friends to Javadi implies that the episode Noah Wyle guest started on exists in the Pitt universe which implies that ER exists in the Pitt universe which implies that John Carter exists in the Pitt universe.
Was Robby watching ER as a med student? Was he going out and picking up girls who fawned over him looking JUST LIKE tv doctor John Carter?

i think that, in addition to many other things, what javadi really values about mckay as a mentor is that she immediately sees javadi as an equal. when javadi gives her "i'm 20 and i deserve to be here" spiel, mckay's first response is something along the lines of "wait that's so cool. and believe me, i know how it feels. i'm a 42 year old R2." she doesn't really dwell on javadi's age and continues with the typical small talk (what rotations have you done, do you have a specialty chosen, etc). for javadi, who's used to proving herself worthy of her spot to everyone including her own parents, it's probably so refreshing to have a mentor who's first instinct is to treat her just like anyone else. mckay doesn't give her special treatment, even teasing javadi in the same ways she messes with other coworkers she's known for much longer and not hesitating to call her out when she messes up or makes assumptions. prior to this, it's implied that javadi is used to people either a) assuming she doesn't belong due to her age, b) walking on eggshells around her because her mom is peering around the corner, or c) some combination of both. for mckay to just...not care and treat javadi like any other med student is what starts off their relationship so strong. mckay's used to people assuming things about her, so she's not about to do that to anyone else, and it's exactly what javadi needs to feel like she's able to do her own thing.

it still kills me that supriya was the one to send gerran headcanons about their characters that people were posting online because that is such a fucking trinity santos coded thing to do.

Why I think THE PITT characters will exit the show.
*eventually.
Michael Robinavitch | I don't think he will "exit" the show per say. He might take more of a back burner role in the later season and be seen working in the background of some episodes with a few lines but be there all the way to season ten.
Heather Collins | Becomes an attending and moves away to finally start the family she always wanted.
Samira Mohan | Takes on a PhD or a fellowship at another institution.
Cassie McKay | Leaves to make more time for family. With Harrison soon going to college, she decides to slow down and go work in a smaller clinic. Other possibility I thought of was battling a serious illness.
Jack Abbott | Goes on another tour (this time with Doctors Without Borders or as a Reservist) after feeling the familiar relentless need to help those who no-one else can. -> Is one of the only characters to later come back - for a few locum shifts.
Melissa King | Realises how much she has learned at the PMTC but also how much she has lost and towards the end of her run makes peace with what has happened, and the fact that its time to move on for herself.
Trinity Santos | Finishes residency, maybe even stays for a fellowship or one / two attending years before getting the flashy trauma job she always wanted.
John Shen | Takes up an attending position somewhere else either for better opportunities (work-wise or socially).
Parker Ellis | Moves away with her partner who was offered a new job in California.
Frank Langdon | Abby moves away with the kids to be closer to her parents, and Langdon after getting better and managing to get into a good space in life, leaves realising he wants to be nearer to them while they're growing up.
Dennis Whitaker | Passes the torch to the next "Whitaker" after becoming an incredible ER attending but wanting to focus on other side-projects such as the clinic for the homeless he's been working on.
Victoria Javadi | Graduates and realises being a doctor is not what she wants right now. Starts a new job somewhere else.
