Ichigo! What’s the difference between a king and his horse? And I’m not talking about obvious stuff, like one’s and animal and one’s a person or one has two legs and one has four. Form ability and power; that’s what’s puzzling. If their form, ability and power are exactly the same, why is it that one becomes the king and leads them to battle while the other becomes the horse and carries the king? So what’s the characteristics that distinguishes these two beings? There’s only one answer... INSTINCT! In order for identical beings to get stronger and gain power, they need to develop a killer instinct, and that instinct is mostly forged in battle! They must develop an insatiable hunger to engage in battle. They must live to mercilessly crush, shred and slice their enemies. This thirst for power is not a unnatural desire. In fact it forms the very essence of our beings; deep within our body lies the whole instinct to dominate and slaughter our enemies. My friend you don’t have that. You try to use your brain to win a fight. You attempt to defeat your enemies with reason and logic. You don’t tap into those pure base instincts that exist within your core waiting to be released! And the simple matter is that it doesn’t work. You're weak, ICHIGO! I won’t put up with that, am I clear? I don’t know about Zangetsu, but I refuse to play horse to a king who’s weaker than me. Someone who’s uncertainty and hesitation will end up getting us both cut to pieces. If you aren’t willing to assert your strength and retain the crown, then I’ll destroy you. Which means I’ll be king.

I'm wakin' up at the start of the end of the world/But it's feelin' just like every other mornin' before/Now I wonder what my life is gonna mean if it's gone/The cars are movin' like a half a mile an hour and I/Started starin' at the passengers wavin' goodbye/Can you tell me what was ever really special about me all this time?
I believe the world is burnin' to the ground/Oh well, I guess we're gonna find out/Let's see how far we've come/Let's see how far we've come/Well, I believe it all is comin' to an end/Oh well, I guess we're gonna pretend/Let's see how far we've come/Let's see how far we've come
I think it turned ten o'clock, but I don't really know/Then I can't remember carin' for an hour or so/Started cryin' and I couldn't stop myself/I started runnin', but there's no where to run to/I sat down on the street, took a look at myself/Said, "Where you goin', man? You know the world is headed for hell/Say your goodbyes if you've got someone you can say goodbye to"

It was Desire's birthday. He wasn't one to really celebrate it, but this once, he'd do something to celebrate it.
He celebrated it in the new Flora as it was aptly named.
Desire grinned as he helped the people around hin set up Valentine's decor among houses and the walls of the palisades Bellum had built.
He had also brought chocolates for the adults to give out, which had a bit of extra zing to make a romantic night a bit more special. Nothing more than mild aphrodisiacs.
Then there were the chocolates for the teenagers. Just normal chocolates with varying added tastes. Like mint, strawberry and such!
He grinned at Zane, he had a stall up that offered alcohol and chocolates for the adults, while a local girl had a stall for normal sweet drinks and candy for the rest.
"Hey there stranger~!" Desire called out teasingly.
Zane rubbed the back of their head, seeing all of the assorted sweets and drinks going around. It left the Marowak more than a little confused. They heard Desire call out to them, and Zane turned to them, and cautiously walked up.
"H-Hey, Desire..." Zane said, his nose slightly crinkling at the smell of the aphrodisiacs in the chocolates. They rubbed their head again, and looked around. "What... Is happening...?"

Stop right there. That's enough.
I... I don't know what to do. I'm not strong like you, Mr. Ky. I'm too scared of losing what I have.
(Runnin' away, huh? Ain't you a little young for a midlife crisis?)
O-Of course I'm running! I'm happy the way I am...
Discretion can be the better part of valor... But think about it. For the sake of your future self.
For my... Future self... ...But what if I make the wrong decision?
(You got your whole life ahead of you, kid. Gotta learn to take a hit sometime.)
And there are helping hands right in front of you.
...! I... I don't want to run scared anymore. If I keep on faking it like this, I know I'll regret it... So from now on, no matter what... No more lying to myself. Thank you! Both of you!
(Don't mention it. Happy trails, cowgirl. Or, uh, cowboy...?)
Cowgirl is fine! Because... I'm a girl!

Lemme guess. You're hidin' your true self for the sake of other folks.
...!
Bullseye.
How... How did you know?
I'm ridin' that horse too, hoss. I keep tellin' myself this is what's best for my family. I've shied away from my true feelings for years and years. Look where it got me. Separate homes. What a joke.
I always thought that, as long as I kept quiet, things would work out... But it hurts too much. I haven't even told my parents.
You don't need to tell anyone anything you don't wanna. But if holdin' it in hurts, that's a UMA of a different color. I know how hard it is to really trust someone, even when they're real close.
Trust, huh...? I guess...
-
I mean, I... I...
...Know you're runnin' away?
...! How can you tell?
Cause I'm the same way. I know what it's like to turn your back on yourself for too long. I'm still tellin' myself it ain't my fault as we speak. D'you know how long it's been since I saw my family?
...Do you regret it? Turning your back, I mean.
I did what seemed right at the time. Same old bull. But lookin' at you... I remember what it was like to be real lost.
Mr. Dickinson...
I dunno. Maybe bein' real lost ain't so bad.
I see... I've got some thinking to do. A lot of it. I just... Don't want to regret anything.
Good call. I'm not tryin' to preach, but give it some thought. You got your freedom, after all.
- GGST Bridget Stage 7 Arcade Mode dialogues, Goldlewis Dickinson relates to Bridget on feeling lost being someone they aren't.

Er, hold on, sis, what did you just do?
That's not me. It's you. What did you see? What did you feel?
Uh, well, I guess it was kinda fun?
You really are dense... But that's just who you are. Not everyone has the same experience. They see things they don't wanna see, and learn things they sure as hell don't wanna learn.
It's a farcry from a typical "peaceful sword" style. But by overcoming the adversity before them, they can affirm themselves. Allowing them to realize who they're really fighting. In short, your sword is unbeatable. You've got to let me see this through to the end.
-
Is it just me? Or are you way less scary than usual?
This sword isn't for cutting people down. It's for cutting them free. And you're enough of a free spirit already. It wouldn't do a thing to you.
Oh, like you're perfect.
Damn straight. But one day I just started seeing it. Right when I started living with [Delilah/Bedman], that is. This isn't some sickness. It's probably enlightenment.
Then take whatever you see... And show it to Nagoriyuki.
- GGST Baiken Arcade Mode Stage 7 ending dialogues, Anji commenting on Baiken's new sword

There are no flaws in my technique... Yet my every strike feels as though I'm cutting myself down. Defeating you is still beyond me.
I could have told you that. So lighten up already. That's the shortest path to awakening.
Will we meet again?
My door's always open.
... I am glad to have met you.
Likewise. So long.

I knew it. I cannot surpass you.
Oh? You did well enough.
I know I've kept my distance, but a true student surpasses their teacher. I cannot repay my debt like this. I wish to settle my past shame.
I didn't bite you so you could apologize. I saw a man on the verge of death, and I bit him to keep his lamp alight. But what happens to a man's heart when he suddenly finds himself a vampire? I had no idea. How young I was... I can't say I was very responsible.
And you are today?
Now, who's to say......?
I've seen the unification and collapse of all under the heavens. If I had died back then, I wouldn't have known any of that. This long life of mine hasn't been such a bad thing. ...Though I'd rather you-know who never catch me again. All that remains now is to find my own path forward.
I see... You needn't doubt any longer. I pray you have a wonderful journey.
- Guilty Gear Strive Slayer Arcade Mode, Nagoriyuki speaking to Slayer about his worry that he still hasn't surpassed Slayer

In the few months that Ihsahn had been around, he had found his footing. He started off very nervous, and stuck very close to Audie. But all had changed the day that Ihsahn had found a pair of fans in a shop. With Audie's help, Ihsahn learned that the traditional dancing fans were imbued with wind magic, and learned to use those wind magics in addition to his fire moves.
As Ihsahn and Audie walked around Alstroemeria, the latter looked over at the former. "It's good to see you getting a bit out of your shell."
The Salazzle smiled. "It's partly thanks to these fans. I was really into fan dancing when I was younger. I practiced a lot on my own, with big leaves." Ihsahn paused to chuckle. "My parents always made fun of me for it, but... It feels good to be able to express myself. And that's thanks to you."
"So this is where you went... Vega..."
Ihsahn and Audie both turned around, and the Salazzle froze, and his smile disappeared, seeing a Salazzle and a Salandit. "Mom... Dad?"
"That's right... You mistake. Thought you could just run away from us and hide? You knew we'd be back." The Salazzle said, looking directly at Ihsahn.
"N-No... You can't..." Ihsahn stuttered, then moving to hide behind Audie as tears streamed down his face.
"What? Don't hide behind your stupid friend!" The Salandit shouted. "Face us head on!"
Audie's eyes lit up blue, and his white rings began to glow brightly. "Hey... Leave him alone. Is it not obvious to you that he wants nothing to do with you? And his name is Ihsahn, not Vega!"
The Salazzle pointed at Audie. "You don't speak for him! We know what's best, so we speak for him!"
Ihsahn grit his teeth, and stared directly at his mother, who then scoffed at him. "Oh... Finally ready to face us, you freak?"
"Shut the hell up!" Ihsahn grabbed hold of his two fans, and unfurled them both. "I... Am so tired of you. Of you belittling me... Of you wishing I was dead, just because I'm a male Salazzle! Who cares? Just let me live my life!"
The Salandit smiled. "What are you going to do to us? You wouldn't dare lay a finger on us before... Why now, Vega?"
"My name... Is Ihsahn! I've found people who love me, and I don't need you!" Ihsahn's fans seemed to grow in size, causing his parents to recoil slightly. But as they turned to run, they bumped into Audie.
"Oh no... You two will want to stay for this." He said, grabbing hold of the Salazzle and Salandit and turning them back around to face Ihsahn.
"Get out of my life!" Ihsahn wound his fans back, and stared down his parents. "Issei Ougi..." He then threw his fans forward just as Audie jumped out of the way.
"... Sai!" Ihsahn watched his parents get caught in the spinning fan, which then closed and knocked the pair out. He breathed heavily, closing his fans and placing them at his hip, then walking up and spitting next to them. "Good fucking riddance..."
Audie stared in disbelief at the Salazzle, before tapping his shoulder and pulling him in for a tight hug. "Ihsahn... I'm proud of you for standing up to your parents."
Ihsahn stood silent for a second, before returning the hug and burying his head into Audie's neck and crying. "It's thanks to you... For giving me a chance... And making me feel welcomed. You and Solaris are a better family than they ever were."
"I'm glad to hear that. I'll talk to Solaris, see about making you a singularity like the rest of us." The Espeon then broke the hug off, and looked at the unconscious lizards in front of them. "I'll throw them in the local jail."
Ihsahn sighed and smiled. "No. Allow me to."
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah... It'll give me some final closure. I'll be sure to tell the warden everything they've done to me. Keep watch on the town. That's what's important." The Salazzle unfurled his fans once more, holding them at his side.
Audie chuckled. "You got it. Again... I'm so proud of how far you've come."
"Thanks... I owe it all to you... I'll see you soon." He said, giving a wink to Audie as he covered himself and his parents with both fans, which then disappeared into blue butterflies, leaving Audie by himself in town.

...Tell me truly. You have no other business with me?
Like I said, a glimpse is all I'd hoped for.
(Doesn't smell like bullshit to me.)
Still, I can tell... There is great darkness in his heart. Hard to believe such a soul is here for mere human indulgence.
Mere? What kind of indulgence could be sweeter? Here I thought you would understand...
What happened to you?
People did. I've been very lucky to meet people who've accepted me. I used to carry myself like some sort of demon, too. Even though I was surrounded by accepting people.
And that's who you claim to be?
I'm not here to fix you. I'm just passing through. Though I did bring a bit too much tea for one person. If you'd like, I'll gladly share.
(A-All right, that's all I can take.)

((sigh) Fine... At least you don't seem like you're lying. So you're really thoughtlessly wandering around here?)
Oh, there are thoughts. About my future, my family, tonight's dinner... About my job in construction, and whether it'd give me the time to moonlight as a fashion model.
(That's so normal!)
I AM normal! What, does a life need to have some grand purpose to be worth living?!
(No, no, you're totally right! But... But... You're just so strong!)
(sigh)... That is why I'm here. It's dangerous, but pretty, and quiet. I've heard that those with grand purpose - and grander troubles - get trapped here. A little normality might be just the prescription. I don't intend to start anything. I'm just one person passing through; Is that really so odd? To me, this place you so desperately guard is a mere walking trail.
(... That so? This is all over my head, but I get one thing. It is a pretty slick spot when you look at it... And you might be the slickest thing here.)
See? You can play well with others if you try. Thank you.
(Sorry I bothered ya.)
