Guess it’s time to learn some kosher recipes, then.
Behind the names of Ikepri characters
(aka mazel tov, your husband is a Jew)!!
A reminder that the name’s origin is not necessarily the same as the character’s origin! I have a Greek name but I’m not Greek, my parents are just weird! It’s all up to your headcanon!

Jin Grandet
origin: Japanese?, French
Jin could be a variation of “Jim” (James). Jin (ジン) is also a Japanese male name. The meaning of Japanese names depends on the kanji used to write them, and have no specific meaning when written with katakana. Honestly I think they just gave him this name because it sounds cool, no deeper meaning attached.
Grandet is a French surname of unknown meaning. It might be a French spelling of Grant or Grande.

Chevalier Michel
origin: French, German Jewish
Chevalier ⚔️ means “knight” in French
Michel is a German Jewish surname, with variants across all Europe. It derives from the Hebrew word מיכאל, meaning “Godly” or “Who is like God?”
If we put the two meanings together we get something like a “godly knight” or “knight of God”. Quite the grandiose name he has.
Not sure if they’re related, but Michel Chevalier was an economist and politician from 19th century France.

Clavis Lelouch
origin: Latin, Arabic?, Jewish?, French?
Clavis 🗝️ means “key” in Latin.
Lelouch is probably a variation of Lellouche or Lellouch. Lellouche is itself an Arabic spelling of the Hebrew name Alush. It means “lamb”. It’s a Sephardic name, but most commonly found in France. However, the inspiration for Clavis’ surname was most likely Le Louche, a half blind or cross-eyed person, but also a term for a “shady” or “devious” person.

Leon Dompteur
origin: Greek, French
Leon 🦁 Dompteur means literally “lion tamer”. Leon is lion in Greek, and Dompteur is tamer in French (and also not a real surname apparently).

Yves Kloss
origin: French, German
Yves 🌳 is the French spelling of the German name Ivo. It means yew tree. The yew is a symbol of immortality.
Kloss is a German surname. It derives from the male given name “Klaus”.

Licht & Nokto Klein
origin: It’s Complicated, German
Nokto 🌌 means “night” in Esperanto, an artificial language from the 19th century, created with the purpose of being a very easy language that would facilitate international communication. You can learn it for free on Duolingo, but it’s not THAT easy!
Licht 🕯️ means “light” in German.
Klein is a very common German surname and it means “little”. It can be both Jewish and non-Jewish, but it’s mostly associated with Ashkenazi immigrants in the American continent.

Luke Randolph
origin: English
Luke 🕯️ also means light. It’s the English spelling of the Roman name Lucas. In the Bible, Luke was a disciple of Jesus Christ and one of the main authors of the New Testament. He’s the patron saint of doctors and painters.
Randolph is a medieval English surname. It’s a combination of the Norse words rand (edge of a shield) and wulf (wolf).

Sariel Noir
origin: Hebrew, French
Sariel 😈 is a Hebrew name of uncertain meaning. Some translate it as “prince of God”, “command of God” and “help of God”. Sariel is a fallen angel from the Book of Enoch, an ancient religious text considered heretic by most Abrahamic faiths. If you watch History Channel, you probably already heard of it! Aliens, man!
Noir means black in French.

Rio Ortiz my beloved
origin: Spanish, Hispanic Jewish
Rio 🏞️ means river in Spanish and Portuguese. It’s also a Duran Duran song!
Ortiz means son of Orto (Orto is a male given name). It’s a Sephardic (Spanish Jewish) surname, commonly seen among those who were recently converted to Christianity in Spain during the 16th century.
And that’s it! Thanks for reading my useless research and good luck with your new husband (but don’t forget the old ones! Be a good harem manager!)

Fortunately, Chinese netizens are doing god’s work rn.
Also, I’m kinda not surprised there isn’t much international reaction since he disappeared from the Kpop scene when he left in 2014 and Cpop isn’t that big. Most people have pretty much forgotten about him at this point.
where are the netizens who come for a female idol for gaining five pounds right now 🤨 why aren’t they bringing out their pitchforks so they can go and make this dude into a rotisserie chicken

Shots from a douyin posted in June 2020 by Xue Bayi 薛八一. The caption reads: "悲天悯人的菩萨都是男身女相,你又何必拘泥于我的性别"
”The compassionate bodhisattva has a male body and female face/look. So why are you so obsessed with my gender?"
