One of the coolest things to remember is that because prey animals have eyes on the side of their head, they can still see in front of them but they are focused on something when in profile!

Sometimes it’s hard to read fanfic when you’re studying herbalism.. when they have the character preparing a tincture to use that same DAY!!?
Baby those dried herbs need to sit in that jar with high proof alcohol for at LEAST a month!
That’s why before the use of calendars ppl use to prepare their tinctures either on the new moon or full moon. A a full moon cycle is usually 28 days or so. And they would give the moon names so it’s easier to remember when/what month said tincture was bottled.
This is also why herbal medicine is prepare in small batches. You have to take your time preparing your bottles. Making sure everything is clean so you don’t end up with mold. Diluting your grain alcohol. Heckkk knowing when to pick your herbs for max potency! Drying your herbs! That takes a lot of time too!
I didn’t mean to rant lol

5 Tiny Writing Tips That Aren’t Talked About Enough (but work for me)
These are some lowkey underrated tips I’ve seen floating around writing communities — the kind that don’t get flashy attention but seriously changed how I write.
1. Put “he/she/they” at the start of the sentence less often.
Try switching up your sentence rhythm. Instead of
“She walked to the window,”
try
“The window creaked open under her touch.”
Keeps it fresh and stops the paragraph from sounding like a checklist.
2. Don’t describe everything — describe what matters.
Instead of listing every detail in a room, pick 2–3 objects that say something.
“A half-drunk mug of tea and a knife on the table”
sets a way stronger tone than
“There was a wooden table, two chairs, and a shelf.”
3. Use beats instead of dialogue tags sometimes.
Instead of:
"I'm fine," she said.
Try:
"I'm fine." She wiped her hands on her skirt.
It helps shows emotion, and movement.
4. Write your first draft like no one will ever read it.
No pressure. No perfection. Just vibes. The point of draft one is to exist. Let it be messy and weird — future you will thank you for at least something to edit.
5. When stuck, ask: “What’s the most fun thing that could happen next?”
Not logical. Not realistic. FUN. It doesn’t have to stay — but chasing excitement can blast through writer’s block and give you ideas you actually want to write.
What’s a tip that unexpectedly helped with your writing? Let me know!! 🍒

Words to replace said, except this actually helps
I got pretty fed up with looking for words to replace said because they weren’t sorted in a way I could easily use/find them for the right time. So I did some myself.

Years ago I was listening to a Danish podcast with a guy who isn’t super bright but loves listening to people who are experts talk about their field.
In one episode he invited a former guest back who was a professor in microbiology because the host found out he was super interested in near death experiences in his free time.
It was a very interesting episode because it wasn’t his field but he had read every single study on the subject and listened to every story he could find and he approached it with the mind of a scientist. He desperately wanted to conduct his own studies but was well aware that he couldn’t go around almost-killing people in controlled environments so had considered almost-killing himself in a controlled environment over and over but was told that wouldn’t be legal either which was why he had settled for just collecting data.
They talked about what people say they experienced in cases where it could be proven that they actually died, usually on operation tables, and how they all say they felt a sense of wonderful oneness, like returning to the source, how all living things are connected and that they got the sense that we are here to learn, that you can’t waste your life because it’s all learning.
Then the host said “From what you’re saying I get the impression we are like feelers or tentacles from some creature on the other side who are poking us into this existence to experience it, like we are all limbs of the same creature who wants to learn as much as possible?”
And the other guy went “You know what? That sounds like a perfectly valid interpretation of the data. I love it!”
And the host continued “Maybe that’s why we created the internet? Because we long to connect and become one again but on this side our experiences are too different and it doesn’t really work when we don’t understand we’re all one? But we still have that longing?”
“My god man! You’re blowing my mind!”
That episode was just filled to the brim with inspiration for fictional stories of every genre.

brooding men who cannot communicate their feelings if their life depended on it are only hot when they're fictional. if i have to deal with one in real life i will curse him and pray for his downfall every night before i go to bed

I fucking hate James Tissot’s paintings because in ALL OF THEM there is ALWAYS someone staring right at you, but it’s not always immediately visible. You just feel watched by this mf. Sometimes the little shit is right there at the centre, but others the bastard is just gazing from the distance, it is CREEPY, my guys
