i'm kicking myself so hard about not getting the best pictures of this one! 😭 the colors ended up gorgeous and i didn't realize until after she left that the lighting in the photos was just terrible.

first picture is after the first session, second picture is partially-healed, partially-fresh.

i adored getting to do this sugar skull on my client. i love doing pieces that let people connect with parts of themselves; their culture, their history, their identity, etc. at one point she looked at it and said "oh my god i feel so mexican right now." and when i tell you i almost cried.

this was an absolutely precious memorial piece for a friend: a sunflower and ladybug. we went pretty small with it, so i kept it as simple as possible. i'm enamored with how it came out. the yellows in the sunflower are still a little bloody in the pictures, but they should be a nice gradient from an orangy-yellow to bright yellow.

also look at that little ladybug! 😭
