            Eyes the color of a dying star looked the woman’s way , a smile seeming to make his features turn even brighter  .  The entertainment district was wonderful at nighttime  .  Kyojuro didn’t come here for the woman though  ,  he came for the scrumptious food that Tengen would always talk about .  He just had to try their fried shrimp gumbo  .   

                 Seeing as how the district was in the middle of something important  ,  Kyojuro took notice of the voice  ,  ❝  My apologies for being in your way ! I’ve heard this district has gotten the best food and I may have gotten lost . ❞  He may seem all smiles  ,  but inside to the very core of his being , he felt something off about this woman  .  His stare was unnerving to some people and comforting to others  ,  however  ,  it was also cautious and calculating  .  

As a respected Oiran, Daki was always accompanied by at least two kamuro, her child servants, for every public outing --- including her trip to her brothel`s accompanied tea house, observing the clientele &. looking for any heavy spenders at the prospect of being her hopeful client, blessed to win her attention. A tradition that was taught to her, even during her human years. Tradition she loathed to follow ; it was tedious, irritating on most nights, but it was how she earned her keep, the key to earning a lavish life of luxury.

That, however, does not deter her disdain for entertaining certain men. Such as the one brutish enough to stop &. directly address a distinguished Oiran in public. Let alone with casual speech.

As Daki, she would have snarled at his direction, ignoring his heed for assistance before brushing past him, deliberately bumping her shoulder against him with enough force to physically make him back off. ‘Back off. Back the fuck off!’ Her eyebrows twitched. For a moment, she almost faltered ; she almost wore her heart on her sleeve. &. Just as quickly, her mask, a face beautifully painted with white paint &. rouge, returned to a neutral expression. But, as Warabihime...

All she could do was smile. Not sweetly --- even as Warabihime, Daki was not a talented enough actress ; but, gently. No imposing emotions, whatsoever. Benign. When she dons her expensive silk kimonos &. elaborate hairstyle, so, too, does she don a mask that covers her true face. A pretty fruit with a shiny veneer hiding the bugs from within.

“Futaba &. Midori,” she called to her accompanied kamuro, “Please help this... man by giving him directions. It seems he may be lost.” Formal &. to the point, yet never once acknowledging him directly. He was not worth wasting her breath over, sharing her space, breathing the same air as her.

i think we should utilize doppelgängers as a horror trope more often. it installs such a nauseating primal sense of dread. its like something instinctual and ancient in your body telling you something is very, very wrong.
