Lawyers are lovers too.Amidst the stressful life Of the law profession has brought me at some point I find the need to unload the anguish, depression and pressure and put it into creative criticisms instead i feel love, i breathe love, i love the idea of love but LOVE betrayed me and now i am tainted and broken for life.

The Good Wife
Tumblr media
This series was introduced to me by my bestfriend. He said that this was a good watch series, even better than Suits.
One night, I was shuffling through netflix and I chanced upon The Good Wife that I decided to give it a try.
I watched one episode and instantaneously I was hooked.
I have seen the commercials of this series way back in the past years but never really got the chance to watch it because I thought it was a drama series about a scourned wife and her husband’s scandal. I never thought that in this story, the protagonist Alicia Florrick (Julianna Marguiles) is a lawyer and that the story pretty much dealt with the legal world; a world I am so familiar with.
The Tv series is about a woman, Alicia who stayed by the side of her husband Peter Florrick ( Chris Noth ) who was the State Attorney of Cook County when he got involved in a scandal of hooking up with prostitutes and fraud and bribery in the State Attorney’s Office. After 13 years of becoming a full-time housewife Alicia found herself stepping up for herself and the kids as they go through this scandal. She had to go back to being a lawyer and was luckily hired by her former Georgetown lawschool classmate and turned lover, Will Gardner in his firm at Lockhart and Gardner.
I find the series interesting not only because I was able to relate to it as a lawyer but there were styles and techniques in trial which I can use in litigation in court. Likewise, I was able to gain confidence in myself whenever I would stand up in front of court.
The actors are really good. I specifically like how Will Gardner (Josh Charles) acting on the series. To be honest, he is better than Harvey Specter of Suits. The acting as a lawyer is on point and his character is convincing. For a moment, I was really thinking that he might be a lawyer in real life.
I also like the chemistry between him and Alicia Florrick in the series. There’s this sense of intrigue and feelings on hold whenever the two of them are in the room. A sort of tension that I just can’t help to feel and wish that I hope they end up together if the series ends.
Unfortunately, somewhere between the 4th and 5th season, a terrible tragedy took place. Will Gardner was shot and he was killed. I think this was the saddest part of the entire series, I was on the verge of crying. Yes, that part did affect me to that extent.
I researched on why his character was killed and found out that I was not alone to feel a bundle of emotions of Will Gardner’s untimely demise. I also found out that he wanted to exit the TV series that’s why his character was killed. The producers and creators of The Good Wife chose the more tragic and dramatic exit for him. They could’ve chosen for him to transfer to another state to head the other offices of Lockhart and Gardner or to just quit the firm altogether but they chose to kill his character.
Up until writing, I still a bit shaken of his leaving the series. I wanted to re-watch seasons 1-4 where his character was still around because he really did make an impact on the story of the series. It just was not the same in seasons 6 & 7.
The story sort of struggled in those seasons as it lost direction. The protagonist struggled with her character and the story went from being centered in her being a lawyer and making a difference to one being a politician. There were less court trials that were shown in every episode (which I always look forward to) and the characters just don’t look the same.
I really wish they would make more series like this, it really deserves a high-rating.
