Bing Crosby was so moved by Lawrence Tierney’s Christmas album that he quit singing his holiday standards for 20 years. It took David Bowie to coax him out of “Christmas retirement.” Crosby last words were reportedly cursing Tierney for making an album “so beautiful that it put God’s works to shame.”
