The Call

Seonghwa had finished dealing with a patient when his phone rang, excusing himself to go and answer it.

"Park Seonghwa speaking, how can I help?" The reply that followed made his heart drop. His mother had passed away. His first teacher, his inspiration, his grounding force had died. Unable to form words as the fellow doctor informed him of his mother's condition in her last moments, it took all of his strength to not cry out in grief.

Frozen in place long after the call ended, he swallowed thickly, a trembling gasp following after as warm tears began streaming down his face. Seonghwa had barely seen Hongjoong entering, the Mafia leader slowing his steps when he heard sniffling.

"Hwa...are you alright?" Bracing himself when the taller male buried himself in his shoulder, Hongjoong gently rubbed Seonghwa's back, letting the other 98' line cry as much as he needed. "What happened?"

"My- my mother Hongjoong...they said she'd been on a ventilator...she's dead, Joong. My mom passed away this morning..."

"I... Seonghwa I'm so sorry. We all loved your mother. You, you go and prepare the funeral, okay? I'll let the others know we're not going to be conducting business for a few weeks. Want me to tell Ash?"

"I'd... I'd appreciate it."

The Lab

The week leading up to the storm was just like any other, the staff members milled about doing their daily tasks as Dr. Tracy kept a close eye on the five boys in the lab. A screen above each boy displayed their vitals and brain activity, as another device to their left recorded anything that they said.

Xiaojun was the first to pick up on something, frantically mumbling “17:33” over and over again. After about a minute of him continuing on, Dr. Tracy sighed and walked over to Xiaojun’s bed, taking a small vile and syringe with him. It wasn’t often that the boys got stuck on a particular premonition, but it did happen from time to time. The doctor easily found a vein and injected the yellow hued solution into Xiaojun, who in turn, fell silent and limp again after a moment.

Dr. Tracy resumes his puttering around the room, stepping out of the way when nurses periodically come in to administer drugs or change out IV bags for the boys throughout the day.

Sometime in the middle of the following night, Jeonghan saw every small detail of the horrific storm. Somewhere deep inside, he knew that this might be his only way out, the only chance at freedom any of them had. Under normal circumstances, Jeonghan would speak freely, describing every minute detail of what he saw in his premonitions like he’d been conditioned too, the drugs pumping through his veins made it hard for him to go against what he’d been forced to do for so long. He did his best to gather the scattered bits of his mind and concentrate on speaking, only allowing himself to utter vague or generic words, ultimately keeping the location of where the storm would hit a secret.

One by one, the other boys began to pick up on the presence of the oncoming storm, each of them giving less detail about it than they would for the average premonition, Hyunjin being the last of them.

The whole morning was dark and overcast, the clouds only darkening as the hours dragged on. A little after 5pm, the rain started, just a light drizzle at first, and in the lab, Hyunjin gasped, the telltale sign of an oncoming premonition. After a moment, he began to list off names.

The most that Dr. Tracy had ever heard Hyunjin list off at a time was six, and that had been due to a large car accident just over a year ago, but this time, it seemed like the names would never stop. The doctor wasn’t sure if Hyunjin was repeating names or if each name he stated was a new person. Dr. Tracy walked over to the screen recording Hyunjin’s words and began to read through the list of names, a lump forming in his throat as he began to recognize some.

Hyunjin continued to list names, the vast majority of them being staff members of Cedar Wood Institution, and as the clock reached 5:33 pm, he stated the last name. Everette Tracy.

A deafening crack of thunder sounded above the institution and the sky opens up, thick sheets of rain pummelling the earth below. Practically tripping over his feet, Dr. Tracy stumbled away from the screen, awestruck and horrified.

Panic filled Cedar Wood Institution as lightning struck the old building, sending shockwaves through the wiring that ran throughout the building like veins. The majority or the wiring had been untouched since the original school was built, and only minor changes had been made during the renovation.

The first fire started in the staff room, if anyone had have been in there at the time they would’ve heard the loud snap of the coffee machine shorting, it’s frayed cord sparking as the water inside began to boil higher. The machine itself began to smoke and soon the pile of napkins beside it began to glow wit a steady orange flame.

Several more broke out throughout the institution as rain and wind continued to lash the building viciously. Pools of rain began to collect outside and torrent down the road, which was already completed underwater. Staff members fled out of the institution, desperate to get to their cars in the hopes of driving off to safety, completely abandoning anything that they’d been working on, including the boys in the lab.

As the hours passed, rain continued to flood the streets and eventually into the institution, tree branches and debris smashed their way in through the windows as the sprinkler system went off in a pathetic attempt to tame the fires throughout the building. The water steadily rose as the storm raged on outside, and all the boys could do was lay in their beds and wait for the drugs to wear off, hopping that they would be safe enough on the second floor.

Xiaojun was the first to regain control of his limbs, bolting upright sometime in the early morning. At that point, the rain had finally stopped and a small amount of sunlight streamed in through the singular window in the lab. Xiaojun swore under his breath and grabbed his head, the world in front of him swirling and out of focus. He couldn’t remember the last time he’d sat up, let alone been able to get out of bed. Glancing around the room, Xiaojun’s gaze eventually settled on each of the other boys in the lab with him.

Taking his time, he eventually got off the bed and to his feet, gripping onto it for support. Xiaojun called out to the others, getting halfhearted grunts in response. Off to his left Kai began to stir, tugging at his restraints weakly as he tried to sit up.

“Hey,” Kai called, looking over at Xiaojun. “Can you help me with these?”

Xiaojun nodded and staggered over to Kai’s bed before fumbling with the buckles on the latter’s wrists. It took him a few minutes but he finally got Kai free. By then both Chanhee and Hyunjin had sat up and managed to get out of bed.

“It’s fucking freezing in here,” Chanhee groaned, shrinking in on himself as he slowly made his way over to Jeonghan’s bed.

After a couple hours and multiple failed attempts, the five of them managed to get to their feet and out of the lab. Leaning heavily against the walls for support, they began to wander the desolate halls in search of food and proper clothes.

After several days of surviving off of nearly expired cafeteria food, the water finally reseeded enough for the boys to leave the institution, wading through the waist high water. Fortunately for them, Kai’s parents owned a summer home in the next town over, and an older man on a fishing boat was more than happy to take them there.

The ride trough the flooded town was quite uneventful, everyone in the small boat favouring to keep quiet inside of trying to yell over the sound of the motor. They made a quick stop at the elderly gentleman’s house before he took them to Kai’s summer home. After thanking the man, they made their way into the house, glad that a key was still kept under a flowerpot by the front door.

After a hot shower, the boys wrap themselves in blankets, deciding to figure out clothing and other necessities later, and collapses into bed, Xiaojun and Kai sharing one of the master bedrooms while Jeonghan, Chanhee, and Hyunjin squeeze into the other. For the first time in a long time, each of them felt safe.

Hello, greetings, I’m just making this post because I’ve had a few people comment or ask or well… harass about things and so I’m going to quick note it all so that I will not be repeating myself again in like a months time. This is a bit lengthy but I recommend reading it as it has important information and if someone complains to me about any of this in the future - I will direct you back to this post and if it still doesn't sink in, I will stop talking to you.

I have been in the community actively since June 2020, running a chatbot for my readers since March 2020. Over the year, I have noticed a lot of things that really trouble me and two of those things are lack of communication and expectations. Some people seem to forget that these are meant to be for fun and that nobody here is actually paid and so they are not obligated to respond all the time.

From the pictures above, there are a few reoccurring things: poly characters and my activity, let me elaborate because if I have to explain these again, I will scream. Remember, I am not telling anyone how to run their bot but this is my way and some people may relate so take it as you will.

POLY CHARACTERS: this is something that has always been up for debate in the community so let me break one thing down: there is a difference between being poly and being open. Polyamory is the practice of, or desire for, intimate relationships with more than one partner with the informed consent of all partners involved. There are a few keywords there, right? Intimate - not sexual, meaning to be closely acquainted or familiar so emotional connections. Informed CONSENT - meaning that you have discussed this with your other partners and they are okay with this. If you start dating someone BEFORE you speak to your current partner, you are cheating. If you suddenly make yourself poly just to be with someone without informing your current partner, you are cheating. However, if you know that your partner is poly and they approach you about potentially being interested in someone else, you cannot complain as you have been informed and they are taking the steps to be open and honest with you.

I will not inform you of every single person your s/o chats with because they are allowed to have friendships, just as you are allowed them. If something moves further, then I will talk to you before it goes anywhere.

Now, open relationships are similar but the biggest difference is that open relationships are commonly about being non-exclusive and allowing each other to pursue sexual relations with other people. Open relationships come with their own rules that are discussed between partners: sexual boundaries, emotional boundaries, who they can go for, appropriate times, will you talk about it, and checking in. These rules are usually established before beginning such a thing and can be discussed admin to admin rather than in RP so that there is no drama and both admins are on the same page. Yes, I am well aware of Chris and Irene's relationship because admin and I communicate quite well so please stop sending me shit about who Chris is flirting with because it isn't hurtful but you look stupid.

On dash, a character that is poly or open is openly flirtatious because if this was the real world, they would be interacting with people right? Please stop stalking your s/o's interactions with other people, especially if they are that way because you are only hurting yourself and creating drama between you and the other person however, if they never communicated with you then yes, talk to them about it like mature adults. This being said, on dash, someone is able to be with someone at one point and with another person at another point, there is no linear timeline as most things happen in dms before reaching dash and vice versa, plots run at different times so if person A is in this place with person B, they can be and if person B is in space with person C at the same time, they can be. Why? Because this is fictional and not real.

In dms, other partners will only be brought up if there is a reason. Say for example, because of her plotline at that time, Irene was living with Chris so anyone who visited her would have been made aware that she was there. Now she is at the penthouse, Chris doesn't live there so he wouldn't be mentioned unless it was relevant to the conversation like how Irene likes to bring up that YangYang taught her how to make cookies if the conversation is baking related or Vitoria is her best friend and has been there for her for so long if asked about friendships, or how she has two adopted sons and the most precious little goddaughter, Yeseul.

From the photos above, I would like to point out that there are CLEAR indicators on who is and is not poly, once all profiles are up and ready, this will have those as well. If you do not read these even though you SHOULD, that is on you. There is not one, not two but soon to be THREE indicators on who is and isn't poly/open/mono so if you do not pay attention, that's a YOU problem.

There is also a how to guide: relationship guide; that people need to read as it has all answers to the questions I have been asked over the last year.

Secondly, EXPECTATIONS: I have a LIFE. Well, we all do, don't we? We all have jobs or study or other commitments. I will not share the intimate details of my life but I have one and so I will not be around every minute of the day, I may be active a lot or only interact with a few things. This does not give you any right to harass me about dms. If I am not replying to your dm, chances are I am not replying to anyone. Yes, I do have a schedule but sometimes LIFE happens and I cannot adhere to it and sometimes, I focus on the s/o because those plots are needed to develop characters and relationships. I try to give equal attention to everyone but, if I am honest, some of you expect way too much from other admins when none of us are paid to be here.

It is perfectly okay to disappear for a few days without explanation. However, if you are going away for over a month... communicate so the other person doesn't worry and is given the choice to wait or to move on.

I am often more active as admin or on dash than I am in dms because I have fourteen different headspaces there, even with the dms broken up into set days, that's still at least five as well as my own to function as an adult. Most of the admins I talk to are lovely and understanding while some... pressure me or make me feel guilty and that isn't okay. I don't pressure anyone, in fact, I am pretty open about replying when YOU can so please give me the same respect. If you only want to reply on the day you know you'll get an answer - that's fine. If you want to reply next week because you aren't feeling good or you have to study - that's fine too. If you want to disappearfrom the face of the Earth with no communication for longer than three weeks - please just message as a courtesy or make a post as I would do the same.

In the pictures, again, there are clear several warnings about this. I do write fanfiction (as some may have noticed) and that is my priority most the time so when I'm not active or sporadically on dash, it's because I am either living my life or writing (currently about zombies and I hate it). There is also a note down on my pinned post that tells you how active I am, what I am doing, and who is getting replies.

That is the only explanation I will give unless I am going to be offline for longer than two weeks.

If I get another message complaining about how I haven't responded to your dm in three days, I will not hesitate to just delete the chat and never talk to you again.

Now, lastly:

This is not aimed at anyone, if you relate, that's great, if you don't, that's cool and if you THINK this is about you. Come and talk to me and I can tell you whether it is or not. But likely chance, its not.

Make sure you rest, hydrate, eat and look after yourself. This is fictional, fun and if you need to take a break from it - you are allowed and not obligated or owe anyone anything.
