⛓ another virgil gillespie aes board for “one thing right” ⛓

- explaining the plot since this is the second aes board i’ve made for this -

Virgil Gillespie is written by myself, @histempest​.

Thomas Sanders is written by Mal, @shut-it-nerdywolverine​.

Virgil Gillespie is a drummer and singer for his small-time band, Mortal Horizon.

One night, after a gig at a local bar, Virgil and his bandmates end up getting into a car accident, resulting in multiple injuries to all inside.

Virgil is largely unscathed - sore and bruised mostly. However, he gets minor damage to the Broca’s area of his brain, affecting his skill in spoken speech.

He cannot speak clearly - he stutters, he slurs, he messes up words and forgets the meanings to them occasionally. He also cannot hum without it becoming garbled and he cannot sing. This is the hardest symptom for him to deal with as he uses singing and music in general to help him deal with his internal issues.

He is charged with disorderly conduct and, after a short stint in jail after being patched up in the hospital, he is released on probation and is court-ordered to attend both speech therapy and psychological therapy.

While sitting in the shared waiting room to meet his speech therapist, Dr. Remington, for their first appointment, Virgil is approached by a friendly man who introduces himself as Thomas. 

Thomas had been born a perfectly healthy child. He had made it through the first four years of his life with no trouble until one day when he picked up the phone and put it to his right ear just how his momma did it. 

He was surprised when he couldn’t hear his dad’s voice so he passed the phone off to Emile and told him he couldn’t hear him. That had sparked CAT scans, audiology appointments every month, and speech therapy. He’d made it through formal education with only one ear and some weird looking hearing aids.
