I love pop culture and I tend to constantly find myself stealing little pieces of it for my own use. I love collecting pictures, movie clips, quotes, and whatever else I come across. You could call me a bit of a pop culture pack rat. I blog too.... http://twiggse.wordpress.com/

Be Back Soon
Hey there!
So I was writing the post for today and I noticed my MacBook screen kept flashing weirdly and after a while I noticed that the bottom left side of my screen was quite a bit darker than the rest. It’s nothing major, but it is kind of annoying so I just spent who knows how long attempting to figure out what the heck is going on with it and not using that time to actually write my…

The Many Times Sex and the City Lied to Me
The Many Times Sex and the City Lied to Me
“Being single used to mean that nobody wanted you. Now it means you’re pretty sexy and you’re taking your time deciding how you want your life to be and who you want to spend it with.” – Carrie
So I was watching Sex and the City today and I was on my favorite season (yes I have a favorite season, what of it) and I got to the episode where Carrie has a birthday dinner no one shows up to and…

A BLOGTEMBER INTRODUCTION
Bienvinudos!
Glad to see you decided to stop by the old blog. Let’s kick this off by stating the obvious, I haven’t written on here in a while and I figured since it’s been over a year since my last post I’d get back into it with a little daily post challenge.
I’ve done blog a day before and I really enjoyed it so I decided would be fun to post here everyday for the month of September.…

My BDE Faves
Everyone is talking about #BDE so here are some people I love who totally have it.
Hey,
So if you’ve been on the internet in the past week you may have seen the term Big Dick Energy (BDE) floating around and like me you may have been wondering what the hell it means. According to Vox BDE is:
It’s the self-confidence to know that a colossal endowment isn’t a measurement of one’s value. BDE might stem from having a literal BD, but it’s not dependent upon any sort of genitalia.…

Please Fix Your F**ked Up Attitude
An open letter to all the people out here being complete and utter crap.
Hey you!
Yes, you there. Can you do me one teeny tiny itsy bitsy little favor? Could you try not to be a complete dick today? I’m not saying you will be, I’m sure many of you are lovely people, it’s just the ones that aren’t who I’m going to need to get your shit together.
I’m talking about the guy I saw call a woman a fat cunt because she had the audacity to turn, my delivery guy who was so…

What To Do With Claire...
What To Do With Claire…
Hey,
I was just writing a post on some thoughts I had about Luke Cage season 2 and I realized this thought deserved its own post.
As someone who rather enjoys the Netflix Marvel universe I believe Rosario Dawson’s Claire Temple is a rare gem. If you watch any of the Marvel shows you will know that Claire is the person that joins them all together as she floats from one series to the next. I…

5 Thoughts Before I Watch Luke Cage S2
5 Thoughts Before I Watch Luke Cage S2
Hey,
The new season of Luke Cage starts today and as someone who is a fan of all things Marvel I will be tuning in and I thought I’d share five thoughts I had about the new season.
I should really finish season
I know like what the hell, but in my defense I got really pissed when one of my favorite characters was killed and I just kind of stopped watching.
2. I hope Luke sucks less this season.

When Iffy People Die
What do we do when not so great people die? Celebrating is just wrong, but ignoring the pain they caused in their life is unacceptable...
Hey,
So this week a rapper by the name of XXXtentacion (how the f**k do you say that) was shot and killed which led to both mourning and celebration by many. I don’t know much about the young man and have never listened to his music, but I was fascinated by how his death divided so many. Compared to the week before when two beloved figures were lost it was interesting to see how different the…

Hey,
As someone who loves a good selfie I couldn’t let today go by without posting about my dear old selfie obsession. I know they get a bad rap but I genuinely believe selfies have their merit especially in the world we live in. Everyday we get bombarded by ten million images of celebrities and are told they are the standard of beauty we are supposed to go by. To take time out and focus on you and how you want to present yourself provides a nice break from this. Even as I went through my old photos to find some favorite it felt good to see my self among all of these other faces.
Selfies are an excellent way to capture a moment in time that might otherwise go uncaptured because lets face it finding someone to snap a picture is not always easy. I’ve often said if it wasnt for my selfies there wouldn’t be any pictures of me past like 18 seeing as I’m never really around photo taking people and honestly when people do take pics I hate them. Selfies allow me to capture moments the way i want and from my own perspective.
So be it by camera, webcam, or phone here are some of my fav selfies over the past 15 or so years.
Thinking hard about how to write this without sinking to Dave’s level of assholeness.
Later ;0)
No I am not bringing back the Jerri curl! I just washed my hair ;0)

“This is your real life. You’re already living it.”
If you have cable then you most likely have seen ads for AMC’s new show Dietland and you’re probably wondering what the heck it is. I too had never heard of the show or the book it was based on but my interest was piqued and I decided to check it out. I’ve breezed past the first three episodes and I decided to tell you what I think about the series so far in case you too were on the fence.
The show follows Plum Kettle a plus-sized ghostwriter for a teen magazine who is trying to get weight loss surgery. Plum’s life is pretty grim, her Miranda Priestly knockoff boss likes to use Plum to make herself look good, the sad sack diet group she attends is an exercise in torture, and her surgery goals get further and further away with each new hurdle thrown at her. One day she notices a woman following her who ends introduces to an organization called Calliope House and Plum gets offered $20,000 to go try their program. Around the same time the magazine Plum works for is investigating a leak and Plum’s boss is getting anxious because a group going by the name of Jennifer kidnapped one of the magazines photographers and threw him off a building during fashion week.

Julianna Margulies as Kitty Montgomery, Joy Nash as Plum Kettle – Dietland _ Season 1, Episode 1 – Photo Credit: Patrick Harbron/AMC
And that is literally all I know about the show, I can honestly say that so far I am intrigued by it. I enjoyed watching the first three episodes and am planning on coming back for the next one, but I’m still on the fence about really liking it. Part of that is I just don’t know how I feel about Plum, like I almost like her I just feel I don’t know her enough. The show had quite a task setting up Dietland because they had to introduce us to Daisy Chain (the mag Plum works for), JENNIFER (the terrorist group killing men), and Calliope House (the feminist group interested in Plum) and at times you get a little overwhelmed and forget the actual characters in the story so I’m excited for things to calm down so we can learn about the people living in this world.
It’s an entertaining show that’s kind of strange with lots of twists and a great premise. I can see the potential for it to be a really amazing series, but I can also see how it could go completely off the rails so I’m hoping there are some amazing people working on it. The show is definitely coming out at a great time and I love that it’s gritty and feminist and starring a plus size woman. I also love the nod to Me Too with the Terry Richardson reference. Overall Dietland’s an enjoyable show that’s definitely worth watching if not just for its originality.

So have you seen the show or read the book? Will you be tuning in? As always let me know in the comments below.

Summer 2018 Playlist
Hey,
What is summer without a fun little playlist to get you moving right? I love summer because the most fun songs get released which makes it easier for me to spend the next several months jamming it up. So let’s get to it, shall we?

Hey,
Do you remember when Instagram was just a fun little app where you could share photos? Then like most fun things on the internet, someone figured out how to make money off of it and all of the fun got sucked out. Now Instagram is filled with highly curated feeds full of images nipped and tucked to perfection and most of which weren’t even taken on a phone, seriously WTH!
I like the look but the amount of time people put into Instagram is astonishing. Last week I was watching an interview with an Instagram foodie who admitted she spent three hours on a single post. It wouldn’t hurt to have a more cohesive feed, but there is no way in hell I’m spending hours planning and editing.
Girl no! Like the entire audience that day I just looked at her and shook my head…ain’t nobody got time for that. I want my feed to look better but I’m not spending 3 hours on a damn picture people look at on their phone for half a second. There must be a better way, so here are three simple steps to make your feed look better without really trying.
Pick a favorite filter.
This one seems restrictive but it really isn’t because most of us have a favorite filter and we just haven’t paid attention. My personal favorite is gingham as it is one of the only filters that rarely ever ruins the color of my photos.
I also admit having a go-to filter really cuts down on how long it takes me to post since I don’t have to try and fiddle with ten different filters to find the right one.
2. Boarders
Whether you just use the borders attached to filters (I do) or you decided to take a sec to resize pics, creating white space on your feed does wonders for its look. I like to add a border to every other picture which creates a nice amount of white space on my feed.
See how it gives a cohesive look without being too much? I also included Tanya’s feed as an example of resizing photos to create white space. Both are super simple methods and take little to no time.
3. Pick a color.
No, I don’t mean pick a color theme like all white where all of your photos have white in them, I mean choose a wash of color for your pics that works well. Instagram has an edit tool in the same place as the filters and there is an option to add a color to either the highlights or shadows of your photos. I highly suggest going in and testing some colors out because they work really well to visually add synchronicity to your images without restricting the type of pics you take.
I use pink for all of my photos and as you can see it doesn’t turn the image pink but rather just gives it a tiny wash of color so when you look at all of my photos together they seem similar. Not only does it make your feed flow better it also helps balance out any weird tinges of color.
And that is all folks! I’ve been doing these things on my Insta feed for months and I really like how they improved the look without forcing me to spend ages editing my pics. I maintain spontaneity while also giving the old feed a little polish. So what little tricks do you guys have up your sleeve? As always let me know in the comments below.

YouTube Channels I've Followed Longest
Hey,
So I am a bit a YouTube Junkie and I legitimately think it is a great form of entertainment … for the most part. There’s a lot of content out there and it can be hard to find channels you enjoy which is why it’s always interesting to hear what channels other people love and have followed for ages, and that’s why we are here today dear friends.
I’ve compiled a list of YouTubers that I have…

Friday Five: Favorites Edition
The movies I'll watch over and over again.
Hi! It’s Friday which means it’s time for another Friday Five and this one is all about my absolute favorite movies. I feel like favorite films are great because they don’t have to be the most critically acclaimed or even the most popular they just have to resonate with you. Favorites make you come back over and over again despite the fact that you’ve seen them a thousand times and know all the…

Hoppy Easter
Hoppy Easter! I'm going back to my roots.
Hiya, Just wanted to hop on here and wish you a happy Easter, April Fools, and rent day. I don’t know what you’re doing today, but I will be getting food (yes, we forgot to plan ahead), coming home, cooking said food, and spending the rest of my night chilling in front of the TV watching John Legend play Jesus. I also wanted to let you know that I will be back blogging regularly on this old blog…
