The two silently slip away from the Wildfangs camp and into the woods.
"Are you sure we won't get in trouble for this?" Feyre whispers as they plop beside each other on the park bench. It is just after dusk, and she knows that her father, Darius, will be waiting for her for her daily training beneath the tall oak tree. She shudders slightly as an image of her father's rage upon realizing she isn't coming slips into her mind.
"Don't worry about it," Alaric says with a dismissive wave of his hand, "I'm sure our parents will be too busy yapping each other's ears off about some new medicinal treatment or some other boring topic." He was right; most of the days, their parents spent whispering close together beside the firepit. She never bothered listening in. But still, Feyre couldn't help but feel a twinge of fear at the consequence that would surely be waiting for her once she returned home. Alaric flashed her a knowing glance before pulling an iPod and some earbuds out of his jacket pocket, handing her one side of the earbuds. "Here," he said, and she obeyed, putting the earbud into her ear. The two listened to music in silence, occasionally giving sheepish glances towards one another.

Alaric has a soft moment with Feyre on the outskirts of the Wildfang's territory. He voices his concerns about how he struggles with healer training with his father, Aldric Elderbloom. He believes he won't be able to live up to the image that his parents have worked so hard for in the werewolf community.
Feyre listens quietly and comforts him with her own struggles of not yet finding her werewolf abilities. She worries that she will have to lead the pack as a human without werewolf abilities.
A sweet little bonding moment between the two ๐ฅน

Feyre is the first heir of the pack leaders of the Wildfangs, destined to become the Alpha after her parents.
