"if you want to help someone is struggling to cope while being sober, be there. Find activities to do with them that they enjoy. Hike with them. Go play mini golf. Ride in the car and just enjoy the scenery. Do something with them that makes them feel accepted and lead by example. Show them how you cope and give advice- but do not expect it to happen right off or for them to do exactly what you think they should do. They need guidance to figure out what will work for them.
