Díli, Timor-Leste - time goes by ... From the first travel in 2014 to 2017 - this tile is still fighting for its place at the wall on the side of church Antonio Motael in Díli.
Find it via the GPS code -8.550620, 125.570638
The travelsign is located in front of the church Matoel, where the funeral of Sebastião Gomes took place and which later triggered the massacre of Santa Cruz. A very important place for the history of East Timor. The drawings next to the tile are from the two most active arts groups in Timor, Art Morris and Gembel.
Thanks a lot to Raul for taking the tile on your trip to East Timor, putting it up on such a great spot and even later keeping a eye on it time by time! It is sad that the tile is damaged, but that`s part of the game.

An "Other Stories Travelsign" linking once the city wall of Guimaraes in Portugal has just traveled NOW in Khiva ! From Portugal I once took the travelsign to Austria and gave it to a Judith - a friend of mine who loves to travel to oustanding locations and is always looking for new adventures. I love the Shirt matching colours with the tile! The outline of the tile is inspired by the townwall, the house skylines of Guimaraes and stands for the never ending transformation of cities and urban development.
The old Khiva oasis was the last resting-place of caravans before crossing the desert to Iran / Persia - a city of approximately 50,000 people located in Xorazm Region, Uzbekistan. According to archaeological data, the city was established in the beginning of the Christian era. It is the former capital of Khwarezmia and the Khanate of Khiva. Khiva is split into two parts. The outer town, called Dichan Kala, was formerly protected by a wall (protected by brick walls some 10 m high) with 11 gates. The inner town, or Itchan Kala, is encircled by brick walls, whose foundations are believed to have been laid in the 10th century. Present-day crenellated walls date back to the late 17th century and attain the height of 10 meters.
The large blue tower in the central city square was supposed to be a minaret, but the Khan died and the succeeding Khan did not complete it. Itchan Kala, the inner fortress of Khiva, is located to the South of the Amu Darya River (known as the Oxus in ancient times) in the Khorezm region of Uzbekistan. Because of its Outstanding Universal Value it has been protected as a World Heritage Site Since 1990. more info here http://whc.unesco.org/en/list/543
