I think I'm gonna go with the straight front legs tho since they'll save more material and time, as well as being floppier

it begins. rough sketch and seam planning concept time before i start pulling out the clay and tape for proportions and such (since using blender takes me way longer & activates perfectionism)

going for a floppier plush that can be moved to sitting pose, not as floppy as a beanie baby

starting w/a xweetok plush bc ive been wanting one that doesn't feel like an awful little figurine for well over a decade now. yes, i have the yellow key quest xwee. and yes, it is awful to touch no matter how you slice it

So I decided to make a Neopets version of Lumos!

Shard helped me figure out an onsite name for him, thank you Shard!

He’s a wraith Zafara that disguises himself as magma by somehow moving all of the blue to a staff he always has within arm’s reach. Lumos is fairly cheerful and friendly.

I also decided to properly customize him, this custom was surprisingly expensive for how simple it is. As usual, I completely avoided NC stuff I didn’t have or that wasn’t easy to obtain, since 90% of the things I want are either retired or locked behind gacha. (rip to the mutant xwee custom I wanted to make, all the good mutant clothing is stuck in NC gacha hell)

Hell yeah, gay neopets

Art (Lutari) and RH (Ogrin) have been dating since like my 2nd or 3rd iteration of them, (I’d say I’m on like the 8th or 9th iteration, depending on if you count color palette updates) and this is honestly a nicer dynamic than them being rivals forever like in previous iterations

“Normal” mode is a magic based disguise RH has since she knows her flaming eyes and simmering horns can be unsettling to others

I’ve changed some stuff up, but kept other things the same as you may of noticed when comparing these to other posts. The most noticeable thing is probably how the colors have changed, since I’ve gotten better at making cohesive color palettes since I left ARPGs. My color choices used to be very dry and scattered, now I trend more towards saturated colors within range of eachother with a few accent colors.

It was an interesting experience, but not a style that works well for me personally.
