The Boxtrolls is transmisogynist

So I went to see The Boxtrolls today having been very excited about all of the publicity, the general theme of the film, and all of the posters I saw of what appeared to be same gender families.

I left the cinema in tears because of it. It’s very transmisogynist. I do not advise anyone, especially trans women, to see this film without warning of what’s in it. I’ll explain why below.

EDIT 7: At no point below have I said that this character is a trans character or that anyone who “cross dresses” = a trans person. FFS, if you��re going to bother me in my inbox, read the entire post.

Disneys Robin Hood Robin Hood and Little John dress up as women fortune tellers in order to rob Prince John. Robin brings Prince John into his carriage for a fortune reading, and during the trickery tells Prince John he is “handsome, regal, majestic, a loveable cuddly face”. Little John hears this from outside and makes a confused/grossed out face. Theres some flirting with the guards for some laughs, and then they run off after having robbed him.

Willow Mad Martigan disguises himself as a woman to hide from a woman having sex withs husband. She insists he cover his face. Upon finding the two of them, the husband sexually harasses and assaults her, and asks her if she wants “breed”. Later the army commander tears off Mad Martigans head scarf and yells “youre no woman” and then the husband yells “not a woman!” and swings at her. About 15 minutes after that the military commander threatens to cut off Mad Martigans genitals and then he “really will be a woman”.

Pirates of the Carribean: Curse of the Black Pearl Near the end of the movie the “comic relief” duo, Pintel and Ragetti, put on dresses and row out as a distraction to the royal navy.

Bobs Burgers s1e6 Its always nice finding an episode of a show, you otherwise really like, that tells you how the creators feel about you. “tranvestite hookers” is the most common phrase here.They dont self id that way, he ids them that way. They zoom in on a their adams apples and facial hair and what not like “omg”. Bob gives all these patronizing compliments to them like about how they are pretty and what not, but is clearly not serious. Theres more, its terrible. What a let down of an entire show.
