Has this happened before? How do you know it's not just close renders of their references, like they claim? And do you know why they say "this group" has targeted them in the past?

Has this happened before?

The Optimus Prime painting that caught my attention was from 2023. But these are slightly before that. They have an abandoned wip up, but it's a trace from MTMTE 36.

This wip was later repurposed in 2022 and included in a print:

But it still has the backpack kibble from the trace. Thanks, Milne! Oh, and the Glitch from that one is also Milne's. Also from #36. That brings our count of traced + sold posters up to, what, four?

So I'd say there's a minor precedent.

How do you know it's not just close renders of their references, like they claim?

The wording on this one is a bit confusing, but I'll answer it as if the question is "How do you know that the art is referenced from their own photos, and not other's?" It's a reasonable question and a somewhat reasonable claim. Unfortunately, it's very hard to defend this claim when the drawings are 1:1 with official promotional material. It would be a lot of work to pose the toy exactly the same way, and take a photo using the exact same angle, with the same focal depth. There are maybe one or two that I could give this pass but honestly, I'm still doubtful.

Additionally, this doesn't cover the drawings that are traced from the comics, like above.

Truthfully, no. As far as I'm aware, I'm not part of any "group" specifically out to target them. I'm just calling out tracing as I see it.

Life update and reason for temporary hiatus below. I'll add tw as needed. It's a little ranty because I'm still a bit anxious, I apologize.

Tw: threatening kicking out of home, slight menstrual talk at the very end after the screenshots

So last night my mother threatened to kick my partner out over 2 bowls and 4 plates that my mother deemed "too dirty" for her to deal with. This breaches so much trust for both me and my partner (on top of other bs my mom has pulled) that we've decided to move out ASAP instead of taking this shit anymore. Because the thing is, when my partner moved in with us two years ago, my mother promised that she would never threaten or actually kick my partner out. This is due to the fact that my partner had been kicked out twice by family in less than a year before she moved in with us.

My mother went too far, and she can't take it back. She made her bed, I'm going to make her lie in it. She won't apologize, she'll probably never even say she's sorry. But even if she did, I will never forgive her for this. She's not just fucking with me anymore. She dragged my partner into it and I won't fucking stand for it.

TLDR: my partners security was threatened by my mother and we're working on moving out as soon as possible. I might not be active much for a bit as my partner and I are trying to figure this all out.

She also then continued to text me "Well, the bathroom trash is still in there, and I was thinking since you don't menstrate anymore, we can get rid of the trash can in the bathroom."

Which while being on testosterone and birth control the way that I am should keep me from menstruating, it doesn't mean that I can't have some spotting here and there. But I wasn't arguing anymore. I've checked out.

When we move out I won't talk to her about anything other than work because we unfortunately work together. But I'm her senior where we work, all of my regulars love me, and she's already on thin ice with our boss (and some of our regulars). She'll get fired before I do, no matter what she tells our boss. And I'm going to tell my boss I'm moving before I tell my mom to warn him of the possible fallout. I know I can keep it civil at work, but I'm not so sure she can.

As of right now my partner and I are safe. We're just making arrangements to move out as soon as possible and I will not tell my mother I'm moving until everything is set into motion and we're actively moving out.
