Expectation vs Reality 😅 In my more than a decade of baking, this is the first time I owned a gas-operated oven. I only ever owned electric ovens before. To say I am clueless about gas ovens would be an understatement. So outcomes like the 2nd photo should be expected. But... it still made me so disappointed with myself and I nearly cried. Lol. Oh, well 🤷‍♀️ I'll just keep on practicing. "If there's a will, there's a way". I wanted to bake some brownies but I was missing some of the ingredients. So, I had to make do with what I have. There's no white sugar, so I used muscovado instead. I also don't have butter, so in goes canola oil. No chocolate? Good, ol' cocoa powder to the rescue! And here they are now, my brownies! 😁 They're not as fudgy as I like them to be. They're a tad dry, tbh. Also not as sweet as the usual, they're leaning towards the bitter side. Maybe I'll call them my Dark Chocolate Brownies. How would you know you made the right decision?

There are so many variables in life that it’s impossible to know if you have made the right decision. It can seem like the right one at the time, but you learn otherwise, sometime down the track. Or it could seem like the wrong decision but years later, you recognise it as the best one you’ve ever made. So I suppose the only way to look at it is, there are no wrong decisions. Everything is as it is supposed to be. We are multi-faceted creatures, living a singular life. As Soren Kierkegaard put it: Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards. Every decision you make has a forward thrust. And it is only through making decisions that we gain momentum in our lives, for better or worse.
