As much as I love the headcanons of TMAGP jmart locking eyes across the street, and having an infinitely brief moment before being cruelly swept away from each other, I'm even more in love with the idea of them crossing paths and never clocking each other at all. Maybe they bumped into each other outside a Tesco, both mumbling apologies and avoiding eye contact. Maybe one of them worked in a call centre and the other called up to complain about his phone contract. Maybe one had to squeeze past the other to get off a packed tube. How many people do we cross paths with in the course of our lives who could mean everything to us, if the circumstances were different? How many connections do we miss?

MAJOR SPOILERS FOR RED VALLEY SEASON TWO AND ONWARDS. LISTEN IF YOU HAVEN'T

One of my favourite (read; makes me want to tear my fucking hair out) things about Red Valley is how wonderfully it captures the hell of watching someone you care for self destruct, while also utterly and unwaveringly understanding why that character is doing what he's doing

There is no winner, here. Gordon doesn't fix Warren, but he doesn't leave him either. Narratively he can't but even if he could, he wouldn't. He sat in his car, knowing this guy who he's known for all of a few phone calls and a road trip could have done something horrific, and still chose to stay with him. He watches him falling apart, deteriorating in every sense, endures abuse by a woman who insists he enjoys the hell she's putting him through, because he is like her, and he doesn't know if she's entirely wrong. Yet, still, he stays. To make sure he'd be there when Warren woke up. To make sure he wasn't in hell alone

And where did it get him?

In a cryopod right next to his hest friend.

Warren finds out he's been living a falsehood, wrapped up like a fly in a spider's web and not even realising where such nice silk came from. He has nothing, really, but a sister, a town, a name, and a death he's been running from for years. He's been held down and picked apart like a hug on a board, and he can't run this time. He can't leave, he can't hide, he can't leave this behind him like he has so many times before, a stain on the rearview mirror that he doesn't have to notice if he never looks back. So, he finds the next best thing: oblivion, nothingness, stasis which allows him to exist with no impact or change.

And after 44 fucking years of nothing, he wakes up to his best friend in a cryopod

All that running, only to be stuck in quarantine with the ghost of a man who isn't dead, who could be dead, who could wake up and be the man who was feverishly excited as he rambled about the hell they'd gone through together

And there's not a damn thing either of them can do about it.

SI-5 AU where they end up together. SI-5 AU where Jacobi’s with the two people he loves the most and he’s okay now. SI-5 AU where Maxwell never dies and becomes something important. SI-5 AU where Kepler finally finds the people who make him feel like it’s okay to be something else other than his job

pan-pan and mayday are such an effective combination of episodes in how they highlight eiffel's importance to the crew. to paraphrase gabriel urbina about pan-pan: eiffel is the communications officer, and without him there, everyone stops communicating. eiffel's "death" - the way they blame themselves and each other - goes unspoken and fuels resentment until something breaks. it's a tangible absence. and there's definitely something to be said about how eiffel fails to recognize himself as an equal part of the crew - even alone, he puts his best ideas in the mouths of other people. he blames himself for his failures, but won't take credit for his success. but, at the same time, it's such a great contrast to have this discordant group of people who won't talk to each other or work together set up against eiffel quite literally doing teamwork with himself. whatever else you can say about him, he brings out the best in the people around him - and he takes the best parts of them with him when he goes.

thinking about Jacobi post-canon hurts my head and heart so bad because he went to space with the two people he cared about the most and left alone!!!!!! he left alone!!!!!!!! nothing he can do now will ever change that, Kepler’s death took whatever Jacobi had left of Maxwell and died alongside him. Jacobi wakes up in a universe where he was the only one who survived and it’s physically hurting me

ANYWAY !!! You guys remember when I was all like “darn I wish wolf 359 was a visual media so I could make that edit thats trending!” I did it. I cosplayed all eight characters involved in the mutiny, and I made it a visual media, and I EDITED IT MOTHERFUCKERS :D
