I hope fat lesbians know how incredibly strong and stunning they are. I know that standards are set so much higher for us compared to thin, especially straight people, but take a deep breath and remind yourself that you are allowed to exist for yourself. Remind yourself that your size and your attraction to women do not make you lesser in any way. You are amazing. Keep doing what you do, keep being you, whether you want to be out there and break the mold or just stay casual, nothing can undermine your greatness. Fat lesbians are stellar and so worthy of love.

If you’re a lesbian, I’m really proud of you. Trans, nb, gnc, intersex lesbians, lesbians of color, lesbians of faith, disabled lesbians, lesbians with learning disabilities, mental illnesses (even the “”“ugly”“” mental illnesses!), eating disorders, poor lesbians, blind lesbians, fat lesbians, lesbians with addictions, lesbians with chronic pain, closeted lesbians, questioning lesbians, lesbians who can’t say the word “lesbian” out loud, lesbians who are victims of abuse and trauma. Lesbians who like math and science and lesbians who speak multiple languages and lesbians who can’t add single digit numbers without a calculator and lesbians who read ten books a week and lesbians who like to draw and paint and sculpt. Lesbians who do sex work, lesbians who are unemployed and homeless and don’t know when they’ll get their next meal, lesbians who are crushing helplessly on a straight girl. Lesbians who have commitment issues, who are hypersexual, who are asexual or aromantic, who are polyamorous, lesbians who are scared, angry, sad, loud, quiet, small, tall, all lesbians. Every lesbian. I’m proud of you. You are doing a great job. Keep up the good work 👌👌

bout to be a bit controversial.
as a lesbian, straight cis women at pride make me uncomfortable. even when they’re there as allies. more often than not, they’re there to be allies to their gay friends, not to lesbians. us lesbians are very aware of how inherently uneasy we make you feel deep down because you see us as scary, predatory and angry bra-burning dykes. you’re not there for us.
i’ve gone to pride in a group of mostly straight cis women. they use their one or two gay friends (who wasn’t me btw; we had two gay men in the group, i was just the lesbian afterthought) as an excuse to come to our event like it’s a party for them.
even during the times that i’ve gone to pride with only lgbt friends, i’ve observed the straight cis girls who’ve been in the same space. we know who you are; a lifetime of searching for and recognizing lgbt siblings makes it obvious to us who you are among the crowd.
you’re loud, you’re rude, you take up more space than you should. you give us actual lgbt people weird looks when you’re at our event. and many of you are the same straight cis girls who would be offended if someone called you a lesbian, who got uncomfortable when your lesbian friend said she had a crush on you, who thinks lesbians are predatory, who kiss other girls at parties for male attention but mock when us actual lesbians show affection for each other in public.
i’m not gonna tell straight cis women not to go to pride. it’s an open event and a free country. they’re also going to keep going regardless, nothing will really stop them. and i’m not even trying to stop them. but having them in our spaces makes me uncomfortable, something i nor any other lesbian should be feeling at pride.
