And when my heart will not allow me to be seen, what then? Have I not danced in the shadows for far too long? And yet it is home. I fear I have no where else to go. That I would find myself in a grave of broken dreams and despair. To find myself as nothing. ~ B.T.

A Few Tips All Writers Should Remember:
·Write to your comfort level. Meaning: give yourself a break when you need it and push yourself when you’re feeling motivated.
·Seek out sources of motivation. There are very few times when motivation hits me out of nowhere. Read a good book. Watch a good movie. Write down your goals.
·Find your space. Coffee shop. Library. Your room with the music blasting and the TV playing your favorite show. Find whatever gets you in the right headspace.
·Your first draft is just the first draft. Too many writers stress out about the first draft and they forget it’s just the first step in completing your novel. You can add to it, build from it, or toss it away completely.
·You will be rejected. Even if you write the next big hit, you’ll be rejected. Read the reviews for some of your favorite books—I guarantee someone HATED it. Not everyone will like your work, but that doesn’t mean it’s bad.
·Write advice isn’t for everyone. There’s no one-size-fits-all plan for writers. Pick and choose advice that works for you, ignore what doesn’t. Not everything will relate directly to you and your style of writing.
·It’s okay to stay in. Want a night to yourself so you can write? Don’t be afraid to cancel your plans and focus on your writing hobby. You don’t have to feel guilty about wanting to work on your writing.
·Let ideas settle. It’s tempting to jump right in to a new writing idea, but let things settle for a bit. Brainstorm. See what comes next. An idea needs to have legs and it needs to take your story somewhere. Let it grow.
·Outlines aren’t set in stone. Be flexible with your outlines. Plan if you need to, but allow yourself to explore new ideas. Let your story go in an unexpected direction.

I hope when love finds you, it stays.
Not every love knows how to stay.
Some love drifts in like a soft breeze, barely brushing your skin before it disappears.
Some love stays a little longer, leaving behind memories like a favorite song that still plays in your mind long after it’s over.
And then there’s the love that hurts, the kind that leaves scars you can’t see but feel every time you try to love again.
No love leaves you the same. Some loves break you, but I hope yours builds you. I hope you find the love that doesn’t feel like a lesson but like home. The love that holds on, not because it has to, but because it truly wants to.
You deserve all the love - the kind that lingers, the kind that is more than just a fleeting touch. The kind of love that feels warm, safe, and certain. The kind of love that stays.

PSA: Writing a book can take a looooong time. If you've been working on your project for a year, two years, five years... you're not doing anything wrong. If you've written three drafts and thrown them all away, if you can only write a hundred words a day, if you put your book down for six months and pick it up again only to be baffled by what you've written... Congratulations. You're not inefficient or slow. You're just a writer. Welcome to the writing life.

Finding you was like realising the glass shattered around me was made out of diamonds.
I picked you up and admired your beauty.
The other pieces left cuts,
You only left rainbows.

Sometimes there are storms within a heart that must be released - shared with other storms. Otherwise the locked heart implodes, dies upon itself in violent self defense, preferring destruction rather than opening up to light knowing inevitably the light will vanish and leave only pain.

You are not falling behind. If you haven't touched your WIP in weeks, if you haven't come up with a new idea, if you haven't gotten your book done and it's been 3 years, it's okay. You are not falling behind. Unless we are obligated to reach a deadline, we begin to believe that we are failing. We see countless people finishing their projects, selling their books, succeeding in the field you're in. And it's hard not to compare yourself to them, you're similar but they are doing the work, and you haven't written a paragraph in over a month.
Comparing yourself to others is a downward spiral that will never give you satisfaction. It's a difficult thing to try and overcome or ignore, but you have to. Instead of seeing other people's victories as a failure on your side, try and see them as goals. Goals to reach, inspiration to get back to your WIP, write that paragraph, or finally try and finish that book.
There is no secret that they know, and you don't. They aren't worse or better than you. There is no right answer. No finish line you need to cross. You work at your own pace, create goals to strive to and try not to compare your progress to others. Enjoy the process!
