How to get your Jellycat soft and clean again: Washing your Jellycat in the washing machine
I get a lot of questions about restoring softness and cleaning of loved and older Jellycats and decided to make an extra post about it.
I recommend cleaning your Jellycat in the washing machine. This is much easier and quicker than washing them by hand. You'll need to be careful though.
Put the Jellycat in on a 20 minute and 30 degree (celsius) cycle on a low spin. Use a gentle liquid laundry detergent! For extra safety, you can put them inside of a delicate garments bag (small zippered bag made from mesh or netting that water and soap can still get through), as this will protect them from getting damaged by the spinning of the washing machine.
Make sure you brush them right after they get out of the washer with a slicker brush (wiry dog brush)
Brush them again after drying them with a hairdryer on little or no heat. You may have to also let your Jellycat air-dry for up to an hour but usually the drying process is pretty quick. Just make sure to brush the Jellycat when it's all dry.
It should now be perfectly clean again and almost as soft as new! This works for all Jellycats. I have long tried to find the perfect way to clean and soften my Jellycats and this is it. My beloved Fuddlewuddle Dragon (the profile pic of this blog) tested it recently and even though the Fuddlewuddle texture may seem tricky to clean and restore, it works great! Below are some pictures of Fuddlewuddle Dragon and his washing machine adventure.

“Why am I so anxious? And then it hits me. I’m not anxious, I’m lonely. And I’m lonely in some horribly deep way and for a flash of an instant, I can see just how lonely, and how deep this feeling runs. And it scares the shit out of me to be so lonely because it seems catastrophic – seeing the car just as it hits you.”
