copper
you taste like copper but
you look like wine.
part of me likes that better anyway.
wine lingers and warms. fills us with sugar-coated nostalgia. makes all walls temporarily transparent.
but blood is throbbing, seeping, and heavy on a tongue
salty and real and
a promise,
a wish,
a hope,
a kiss.
it is life in its most raw and pure form
but mainly and truly,
absolute possession.

weltschmerz
Once more enveloped by a stormy gray, The shards from both my mind and heart astray, I feel no pain nor pleasure within me For now I have control; soon I’ll be free.
I walk to a secluded garden, lone The trees watch, silent, as I cease to roam “The perfect place,” a well-known voice soon says, “Why don’t you close your eyes and rest your head?”
Before I do I glance, instead, beside The umber skeletons waving goodbye At once, the voice no longer sounds so clear; An iridescent hummingbird appears.
It does not speak -- just hovers in the air But it is clear, what its been sent to share: Right now your life is not your own to take; Your rest will have to wait another day.
