The afterlife.

She had always wondered what it was like. She wished to see it with her own eyes, she yearned to satisfy that hunger of not knowing. She wanted to breach that frontier.

Yun Sun-hee, age 17. Status: Dead.

Now she had the chance. Her questions would be answered, blanks would be filled. That is what she assumed would happen, that was how it should have been.

"why do you hold such a curiosity for a foul entity."

A voice?

Does one hear voices upon dying?

"Urgh, even now she still thinks of you, how revolting."

There it was again. And it was responding to unspoken statements. What was happening? Who was talking over her?

It dawned on her that she was somewhat conscious, then again, she felt . . .nothing and something. Nothing because she could not feel around her, her human senses seemed none existent. Something because she felt heavy, her essence, felt suppressed by an unbearable weight. Maybe that's what made her feel nothing.

But she died, death meant the blockage of feeling, or so she heard. Yet, it feels as if Sun-hee was in an abyss, feeling and yet not. Death was intriguing. It made her all the more curious.

"There she goes again!"

A sigh from a new being sounded, followed by a loud click, as if snapping fingers. At that moment, Sun-hee felt her (body?) sway, the feeling of thousands of shards of ice sprayed over her (face?).

"Open your eyes, Keres"

Sun-hee, somewhat knew the being had been referring to her, it was more involuntary that willing. Her eyes felt less heavy, she done as instructed, but what assaulted her vision was nothing shot of petrifying.

Eyes.

Everywhere, magenta eyes of different pupil shape and shades surrounded her from all around her. She was floating, yet not. But the scrutinizing eyes, calculative red orbs, larger than her head looked ready to swallow her whole.

"Truly?" The other questions.

Sun-hee blinked rapidly, the hairs on her neck standing on end. She was yet to see the owner of the voice, but she opted not to search around, fearing one particularly large eye.

It's retina was oozing a brilliant crimson, bleeding into its sclera, the pupil large enough to mistake for a man whole. It's remained unblinking, as others seemed to dance around it.

"Keres, you avoid my gaze?" Came the voice, different from the slightly irritated one.

"Your kind believes the 'eye' as a window to one's soul."

Sun-hee trembled with a new found nervousness. So the eyes had an owner?

"Your kind jests often of facing death in the 'eye', you're one of a few to have the chance, so do as your curiosity wills."

"Look into the eye of DEATH."
