Shoulder Swap

So bit of a film nerd me and I was looking back at the exchanges between the Metatron and Aziraphale and how they were filmed.

Majority of their conversations is shot using an over the shoulder technique (OTS) and I was trying to see what kind of angles were used.

Now unfortunately (for me anyways lol) I wouldn’t say the angle difference between their shots has the power dynamic indications of high and low shots. It’s most likely just to account from the height difference between the two actors.

I mean if we did take the power dynamics indicators, visually Aziraphale would have more power in this set up despite how it may seem with the Metatron’s words. Just with the traditional definition of high and low angles.

But what I thought was interesting was when the Metatron comes back in after The Kiss something changes.

They switch shoulders!!

Before the Metatron was on the Left and he switched over to the Right.

While Aziraphale started on the Right and switched over to the Left.

Traditionally the angel that sits on the right is to record all good deeds and represent conscience while the one on the left records the bad and represents temptation.

It’s just an interesting little choice to make especially considering what happens in between and what may happen after.

Me: I shouldn't disturb Neil Gaiman. I shouldn't send an ask unless I really have no way of getting the information otherwise. I'll check old interviews and all the articles that vaguely mention the subject. Of course it goes without saying that I'll read though the FAQ in its entirety. Only then, will I send an ask. However, I'd be very polite and praise his work, as anyone would. I'd also keep it short, because I don't want to waste his time. But I'd keep it very very respectful. I'd be sending a message to a very talented, amazing author that deals with god knows how many like me. Or I'd just stay in the dark and not send him an ask. Yeah, I'll do that.

Before the beginning.

Good Omens season 2

Every time I see this scene, I think it's one of the best of the second season.

We can see how Crowley already enters the shop as if it were his own home, bringing his plants without asking where he can leave them because he already knows.

Then, upon realizing there is a visitor, he greets them as a host and sits in the same chair as Aziraphale, taking his space and also the role of co-host. You can see how both are relaxed and even happy; they no longer care about being seen together.

This scene shows how their relationship had finally progressed a little further.

Cada vez que veo esta escena creo que es una de las mejores de la segunda temporada.

Podemos ver cómo Crowley ya entra a la tienda como si fuera su propia casa, llevando sus plantas sin preguntar dónde las puede dejar, porque ya lo sabe.

Luego al darse cuenta de que hay una visita, saluda como anfitrión y se sienta en la misma silla que Aziraphale, ocupando su espacio y también el puesto de co anfitrión, se puede ver como ambos están relajados e incluso felices, ya no les importa que los vean juntos.

Esta escena demuestra cómo al fin su relación había avanzado un poco más.

Hey, do you remember when Crowley called Aziraphale "just enough of a bastard to be worth knowing"?

And do you remember how Aziraphale looked at Crowley like that was the most romantic thing anyone had ever said to him? (It was).

And don't you think Aziraphale would do anything to live up to that compliment?

Just a little moment to remember once again what incredible actors Michael and David are. I think that being able to communicate such deep emotions just with the eyes is not a simple thing. We were so lucky that the two of them were chosen to bring Aziraphale and Crowley to the screen. Both deserve much more recognition.

In these eyes there are pain, hope, questions, fragility, doubt, courage, love... oh, so much love...

Para mí es la forma en que muestran esta hermosa relación de amistad, amor y compañerismo.

Como los fans disfrutamos las demostraciones de cariño con actos simples y más domésticos, como por ejemplo las miradas, que siempre están muy juntos sus cuerpos y los actos que uno hace por el otro (ordenar la librería, prestarle las llaves del Bentley, ir a comer juntos, sentarse en el mismo sillón), no es la típica relación física que avanza rápidamente.

Es una manera diferente de amar.

For me, it is the way they show this beautiful relationship of friendship, love, and companionship.

As fans, we enjoy the demonstrations of affection with simple and more domestic acts, such as the glances, the way their bodies are always very close together, and the things one does for the other (organizing the bookshelf, lending the keys to the Bentley, going to eat together, sitting on the same couch). It's not the typical physical relationship that progresses quickly.

It is a different way of loving.
