Because this is absolutely a revenge quest for Arthur just as much as it is for Jonathan. He's hunting the man who killed his fiancée and he's doing it with smiles and kindness and wealth instead of with single-minded determination and a big knife.

Arthur is playing a part, the part he's been born and bred to play his whole life, but he's still playing a part and they are succeeding because he is playing it so well. Arthur, still in deep morning, is friendly and cheerful and solicitous and polite and must be every inch Lord Godalming if their efforts are to count for anything at all.

Quincey is exactly the same before & after. Quincey gets to sit in the corner being laconic and inscrutable. Jack wears his heart on his sleeve at all times and has literally no idea. Van Helsing is just Like That. Jonathan has fully embraced his new life as feral little ball of terrifying rage, in between his bouts of suicidal depression. But Arthur buried his father and his beloved 3 weeks ago, and has had all the consummation and catharsis he is going to get. He does not have the luxury of crying into his phonograph. He knows that the only thing he is able to contribute to trying to make this right is to be sweetness and light at all times and use his charm to open doors for the others.

And if that fails, to slaughter another man's wife the way he did his own.

the adam & ronan religious references are just too damn good i am on the floor. adam’s name literally being adam, the first man & their ribs fitting together & adam living above ronan’s church & ronan having two objects to worship in the same place & latin being their language and also a language the bible was written in historically & the barns being their paradise in the summer & them having to leave their paradise because paradise isn’t real but their ribs still fit together and adam is still ronan’s adam, still the person he worships & they are just two people connected to something holy and otherworldly loving each other unconditionally.

THE DEAN KNOWS TROY AND ABED ARE GAY (and constantly tries to keep them together)

here are all the times where the dean seems to find that troy and abed are more than just friends.

- the first, and probably biggest one is his supporting abed in geothermal escapism- his line talking about how special troy and abed’s friendship has been to the school, in particular

- next, there’s the cartoon at the end of paradigms of human memory- this one’s a bit vaguer, but when megadean is killing the study group, he shoots troy and abed with a rainbow which decapitates the both of them. subtle lol

- the whole, “i follow troy and abed on twitter” from studies in modern movement… im sorry but why would the dean follow them unless they’re posting funny gay shit.

- furthermore(me being fancy), the dean looking back and forth at troy and abed while saying “our air conditioning system wasn’t built for this gay a party” in advanced gay he’s like “it’s cuz of you two” it’s hysterical

- “boys niiiight!!” from origins of vampire mythology like sir. you know what they are i know he’s there cuz he needs to get troy into ac school but still 💀 it’s so him hanging out with other gays coded tbh

- also just how he initially refused to push harder on troy’s reluctance to transfer like. he knows there’s no way he doesn’t

- “come mediate troy and abed they listen to you” from pillows and blankets like. the dean is in their business if he knows this LMAO

- when the dean takes the bb&b coupon from them anyways in digital exploration and interior design followed with troy’s “there’s plenty more where that came from”

- also just how involved the dean is with them in that ep and pillows and blankets like he’s working ACTIVELY to make sure they work things out

i feel like there’s so much more but yeah it’s a weird phenomenon pls someone tell me i’m not crazy tho lol has anyone else noticed this??

Something about how in chapter 4 of trc Adam is insecure about the fray on his second hand sweater, and how it's a symbol of his background and insecurities, and how most people don't notice it, and if they did, they didnt think better of him for it

And how Blue saw it immediately and it was something she liked about him, a girl too good at seeing the vulnerabilities of other people, but Adam didnt want someone to see his insecurities, didn't want someone to acknowledge that life

But Gansey did. Gansey needed someone to see him at his worst and love him for it, and blue did that

And how Adam needed someone to see him at his most unruly, and encouraged that
