TOMORROW NIGHT at G1988 (East), from 7-9 PM, we’ll open Meet Cute, the newest solo show of limited edition prints from artist Nan Lawson. It’s a tribute to her favorite pop culture relationships just in time for Valentines. The opening reception will be the first opportunity to buy work, and then all the pieces will be available online Saturday afternoon (PT) at gallery1988.com.

Finished the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy last night. This is a quote from Marvin the Robot. Work in progress. (I haven't finished the word "pretend.") This series has been fun. The challenge with each piece was to just try something and commit to finishing it whether or not I liked how it was turning out, to not plan it in advance or fix it once it was finished. No Photoshopping allowed. I tried some new things, went with some new lettering styles, and mostly tried to just have fun. I think it has made me a lot better. There are somewhere around 27 pieces total. It was an amazing week for marriage equality. I wrote out the final part of Justice Kennedy's opinion for the Court in calligraphy.

I think an important lesson from the fight for marriage equality is this: your stories matter. The personal is political. There is so much we still have to fight for--with regard to LGBTQ issues and so much more--and sharing our stories, refusing to be silent, gives us power. Raise your voice and change the world.

Thank you to all of my LGBTQ friends for sharing your truth, even when it wasn't easy, and helping to make this day possible. Thank you for being our role models in the next fight for change.
