I'm still Alive & Otome Review

So I haven't posted in a while and I feel bad but I did play some otome games that I would like to put up for now. I am a bit busy with school so there will be no Bishounen appreciation for a bit after this.

So now here is my review? Of How To Take Off Your Mask by Roseverte.

The game is about a fictional continet, Eroolia and our 2 protagonists live at the capital of this continent, Leezera. The female protagonist is a Luccretia (a cat person) and a lot of people don't like them because they don't understand what they are. The female protagonist with the defualt name Lilia thinks she is human and a mature girl who has a childhood friend she likes to spoil. He is our male protagonist, Ronan. He acts childish and depends on her constantly to the point she is too involced in what he does and thinks he can't do things properly without her in his life. Unbeknownst to her, Ronan can be just as mature and works for the city guards.

She hides the mask of wanting to be spoiled by being the dominat one and being a Luccretia and Ronan hides his more mature, big brother side that likes to spoil Lilia by acting only childish infront of her so she can be happy.

Lilia actually only sees Ronan as childish and spoils him like a Big sister as a coping mechanism for her parents leaving her at a young age. However internally, she also wants him to spoil her as well.

Ronan protects the image of the childish friend because he loves that it makes her happy but still wants to be cool and make a name for himself without her.

It's a very interesting dynamic and I liked it. There are 2 endings, one where she prefers to be Human and the other where she prefers to be Luccretia. In the Human end, Lilia is still the main mature one in the relationship and Ronan keeps being a bit childish while trying to act cool sometimes. However the difference is they are now equals and accept they want to be lovers while keeping the similar dymanic they've had since childhood (i.e Lilia being dominant and Ronan being Submissive).

From the 2 pictures of Ronan above, he comes in acting all cool and then slips and gets messy. Its to solidfiy that in this end he can be a cool guy but he is more childish at heart.

However, my favorite ending is the Luccretia ending where the reverse is the case. Lilia accepts that she wants to be more spoiled than act mature and Ronan accepts and feels more comfortable in the role of being the dominant one in the relationship. So their dynamic switches but they still love each other as equals. It's my preferred end because I personally prefer to be spoiled so I can feel good about spoiling my man.

In this end Ronan enters with his hair clean but in his usual style. This shows that he actually *is* more dominant and its not something he is trying to be. He is comfortable being the one to spoil Lilia and not as childish as she assumed.

You also get some bonus scenes to see chapters from Ronans perspective and I really appreciated that. The game is on Steam and App stores for CDN $13.99. If you have the money, go play the full game and if not just download the demo and see of you'll like it.
