From House to Trailer
I have been living in mostly rentals since I was born. Getting forced out of our house, and living in California in 2019, my husband and I had enough of renting. “Why don’t we put our money towards something we will eventually own, and it’s cheaper then renting?!” “Let’s do it!” We have a future in mind, moving out of California and buying a home to raise a family in, the normal American Dream. But for now, we needed to save our money to have a future otherwise it wasn’t happening.
Few months later, here we are. Living in a trailer. Not the idea I thought I would ever get used to, but I am warming up to it. You know the feeling when you buy something new? It’s well NEW, and exciting and all these ideas pop in your head to make it your own?! Well that was a struggle for me. We had to adjust going from a 2-bedroom 1-bathroom spacious home to 32 feet of living space. Let’s just say it took me a little bit longer to adjust to than my husband.
I’d realized that we spent all this money to come to find out that these things are pretty cheaply made. It was also a new learning experience for the both of us. Mostly with draining of the tanks, yes even that tank. The thought of it made me want to vomit but after doing it a couple times I have learned not to look and leave it up to my husband to take care of most of the time. The most thing that would get on my nerves is there was hardly space! We had to downsize like I never thought possible! Everything feels crowded, I have to side step and hug the wall to get to my side of the bed. I started listing the cons of owning the trailer thinking I could get my husband to change his mind.
·     Too crowded
·     No space
·     can’t see myself in the bathroom mirror because I’m too short
·     our feet hang off the bed
·     the bed is very uncomfortable compared to our amazing mattress
·     no magnetic fridge
·     hot water last only 8 minutes!
·     water pressure sucked, etc.
Needless to say, the list could go on. But then I thought of the money situation and our future and I’m like there has to be a way to make this work!
It took some time, some creativity and spending some money but it’s better than it was in the beginning. We now have a little more space, better water pressure, a somewhat comfy bed, and it feels almost like home with our personal touch. And it only takes like an hour to clean!
We had to learn to buy smaller and not in bulk when it came to food and necessities, take faster showers, use less water doing dishes, take trash out every day, oh and remembering that public restrooms do not have a foot flush! Ha!
The only thing I can’t seem to shake is how to organize our tiny little pantry! My OCD gets the best of me almost every time I open it. We still have a few things to customize but we’ll get there. It’s only temporary and we make the best of it. I am finding that this trailer has it’s perks now as more time goes on.
Until Next Time!
P.S. Any fellow trailer neighbors got advice please share!

First Time Here!
I have always wanted to blog but never put enough thought into how to do it. Thanks to Tublr, I can and I can do it free. It was that easy. Well kind of.
To be continued.
