Help us to build and sustain this newsmaker community for leading-edge creators:
Our History -
The Younge Hollywood Blast began in October 2011 as a digital publication created by Natasha Younge on Paper.li.
This independent media publication provides a platform for those who are most often overlooked: new and under-represented talent in all fields of entertainment. It champions the work of emerging Hollywood, all while staying at the leading-edge of trends in digital entertainment, highlighting indie film, web series, and much more.
Placing two years in a row and then winning in the category of #digitalmedia at the Shorty Awards in 2014 was a community effort. Paper.li subsequently offered the Blast a brand ambassadorship, which has allowed us to continue publishing your news for free! This unique act of generosity in turn inspired Natasha deeply to continue finding wider visibility for the growing community of news-makers.
Through community development, the Blast became a space where new voices from all genres of entertainment can be heard discussing their films, web series, acting projects and even crowdfunding.
Here is a sample of what we've accomplished here over the last five years:
Your daily news shared globally throughout our entire social network of now 20K+
Collaborative interview series,
Featured interview mini-series,
Free Crowdfunding Support with one of the most popular hashtags for six years. At it's high point, it was delivered to 1.6 million timelines weekly.
Our Future -
Now on a brand new website, and stretching into social media platforms, like Instagram, the Blast’s steady audience is growing. And so is my passion for helping our loyal news-making community...
Next on the agenda is always raising your visibility.
In order to have the freedom to innovate, share your news in your own words, maintain the new website, and personally manage and facilitate our community group online, your support would contribute much.
Do you believe in the importance of keeping new and under-represented voices to the forefront in media about entertainment?
Then, I urge you to help the on-going development by either choosing a monthly show of support today (starting at $1), or by sharing our Patreon page:

Thank you!

When Orlando (Francisco Reyes) enters a rooftop supper-club in Santiago at the beginning of the film, he can’t take his eyes off Marina (Daniela Vega), a striking young vocalist who’s crooning lyrics about throwing her boyfriend out with the garbage because, she sings, his love “is like yesterday’s newspaper.”
She sings that line straight to Orlando, with a little smile. She’s definitely not throwing him away … she’s moving into his apartment as soon as they celebrate her 27th birthday.
But that night, things take a terrible turn. Orlando wakes up feeling ill. Marina rushes him to the hospital, where less than half an hour later, he dies due to an aneurysm.
At that point, Marina’s ordeal is only beginning. The doctors who couldn’t save Orlando look at Marina in the harsh hospital lighting and begin to treat her as a suspect. A policeman demands to see identification and frowns at the fact that the name on her ID card is “Daniel.”
A Fantastic Woman is Chile’s submission to this year’s Academy Awards, and it’ll be one of the five films up for best foreign language film on Oscar night. Director Sebastian Lelio often makes films with strong, complicated women at their centers — his 2013 awards-circuit hit, Gloria for instance. In Marina, he’s got a uniquely striking heroine, whom he is forever surrounding with mirrors and reflective surfaces, as if determined that we should see her from every possible angle.
‘A Fantastic Woman’ Is As Strong And Complicated As Its Star

We recently met up with our stunt coordinator, Noel Vega (The Deadliest Warrior, Call of Duty) and are very excited to get into rehearsals and choreography with him.
Speaking of which, in case you missed it during our campaign, check out this behind-the-scenes vignette of lead actress Julia Morizawa training at the National Wushu Training Center with Coach Matthew Osborne, and sharing about her past experiences as a competitive gymnasts and stunt-doubling for Lucy Liu.
