Rukia and Renji's childhood friends - Info from BLEACH JET Booklet [Translation]

Here is my translation of Kubo’s character sheet for Renji and Rukia’s childhood friends. I know a lot of people have always wanted to know their names but I think no one had shared this information among the western fanbase yet!

Once the outcome of the battle between Ichigo and Renji had been determined, chapter 98 is where Renji entrusts Ichigo with the rescue of Rukia. This is the character sheet of the three childhood friends who appeared in Renji’s recollections during that moment. Character names, traits and so on are revealed to the world for the first time!

(From left to right)

藤丸 - Fujimaru

He is the tallest of the group.

Has a strong sense of responsibility and is the witty one.

小三郎 - Kosaburou

Quiet.

He is a hard worker despite his appearance.

マメ次 - Mameji

Is usually the butt of the joke.

Timid but good with numbers.

Translator’s Notes:

I believe Mameji gets his name from the fact that he’s small! ‘Mame’ is often used in Japanese for small things.

Magnus Eccentric Bane

In the show, Magnus mentioned to Alec (forgot which episode, but I think they were standing on his balcony), something about having been too much a lot of the time. Implying he was too much to handle for former lovers and/or friends. But I didn't really get the feeling, in the show, that Magnus was especially eccentric or anything else that could be classified as being too much, tbh. In fact, I would have liked to see him be even more. More eccentric, more extra, more Magnus. NO ANGST! I don't want Magnus being too much in the sense that Alec feels he can't handle a relationship with him, or something like that. I was thinking more in the lighthearted, possibly slightly ridiculous territory. Like Magnus throwing a birthday party for his cat.

Or portaling to Italy because he is craving that one pastry from that little hole in the wall café, only to discover that the baker who made those pastries was fired. So it turns into a whole odysee about finding that baker and getting them a new job so that they may make those pastires that Magnus likes so much.

Or him breaking into a mundane museum because some archeologists found something of his and he would like it back. He of course dressed up for the break in appropriately, in a black leather cat suit. "It's called Cat Burglar for a reason, Alexander." "I thought you were going in glamoured." "I am." "Then why dress up if you will be invisible?" "It's the thought that counts, Darling."

There are sets of clothes that stand out for their color and pattern. There are sets of clothes that look bad on other people, but ZZH looks great in them. His figure and the way he presents his clothes make it impossible to take your eyes off ZZH. Looking at ZZH, we notice that it looks great in such sometimes non-obvious combinations. And if we add a great photographer to the mix, we get a perfect photo. Earthy colors were chosen for this photo shoot for ZZH. Various shades of brown and beige combined with white and black. Brown is not an easy color and few people look good in this color. ZZH with a warm, golden complexion goes well with brown tones. This styling in this color does not overwhelm him, maybe because it is not one solid color, but the fabrics have a pattern. The shirt has an original checkered cut, and the jacket has a houndstooth pattern. In principle, you should not combine different patterns, because some people consider it inelegant, but nowadays almost no one pays attention to it. You could even say that such a combination of patterns is desirable. To avoid ZZH's styling being too monotonous, ZZH is wearing white trousers and, I think, puts on a white short coat or jacket. This white combined with the black (or dark brown color of the jacket lining) makes the ZZH silhouette highly visible. The selected photo does not have a strong filter applied, so you can see ZZH's nice skin tone. Additionally, his dark brown hair, which is thick and nicely styled, frames his face with large almond eyes and pink lips. ZZH is standing here in an interesting pose, he seems to be worried about something, maybe he is worried about something, maybe he has some problem to solve. But it still looks great.

No but Shen Twins AU where Shen Yuan is a technically a member of Cang Qiong Mt sect but he's almost never there cause he's too busy traveling and studying/documenting all of the cool plants and animals.

But when he Does spend time at the sect it's Qing Jing Peak's emotional equivalent to Christmas, cause Shen Jiu is actually in a good mood (as good as his moods get at least) and Shen Yuan has picked up a habit of bringing sweets for the disciples. He just shows up and suddenly the bamboo house doesn't seem so empty, Shen Jiu actually seems comfortable for once, and the whole peak's atmosphere seems to shift.

And, it's always a very jaring experience for new disciples the first time they meet Shen Yuan. Cause there's this guy who looks exactly like their teacher but is so much less severe. His posture is a little more relaxed, he Actually smiles at them every once in a while, he doesn't get annoyed when they ask about his adventures and is instead very willing to share his stories (if he dresses them up a little who's to blame him). For many of them it stuns them to see Anyone be so casual with their teacher and be left alive after; to see him argue with someone in a way that is actually harmless rather than scathing.

It doesn't help though that noone actually knows When Shen Yuan will ever show up or how long he'll actually stay. It definitely varies, sometimes he'll just be passing through the area on his way to some other cool place, sometimes he stays for a few months in order to teach a couple classes on useful plants and dangerous animals.

Often during his visits, he visits the other peaks too. He talks with Mu Qingfang about about medicinal plants while he's treated for any injuries he has (it's not his fault he's accident prone, and if he fell of that cliff while trying to follow a very cool bird-thing no one needs to know). He has tea with Yue Qingyuan (who met him for the first time and said "our younger brother"); Shen Jiu is decidedly not happy about this but "oh well he'll live"
