They want you scared to fight back.

They want us scared of each other so we can’t realize what they’re doing to us.

We are livestock to them and they’re foregoing the slaughterhouse in exchange for riling us up until we start maiming each other. They’ll wait for us to tear ourselves apart before picking the meat from our bones and the coin from our wallets like vultures. They tote the right to free speech around like a shield until we pick up our own and suddenly the concept of free speech is blasphemy. They want us dead but they want us to live long enough to be drained of our money, our labor, and our bodies. As long as a new generation is born for them to start taking from, we are worth keeping around. There’s no water, just poisons sweetened to the point of being detrimental. Either way, you die while they wait to reap the rewards of their “hard work”, all the while drinking water by the gallon. Spitting it into your face as they tell you, scream at you that there’s no water. “I’m a victim of the world too!” They’ll lie to you. They will lie to you time and time again as you can do nothing but feed them more power, sprawled out and fattened on the cheapest processed ingredients upon their dinner tables, carved open to make your innards easier to access.

There’s this habit I had as a kid. Nothing bad or hurtful. The kind of habit you’d reminisce about years later in a conversation with friends. It’ll draw out some chuckles at how bizarre it was, maybe even a few ‘I did that too’s. Simple kid stuff.

I’d pluck the heads off dandelions when they reached that stage where they closed up and the petals would be exchanged for the fluff. When they’d get like that, usually in mid to late summer, I’d think they were the softest thing. I’d pick them off their stems and brush them against my cheek as if painting on it. And sometimes I’d put them in my pockets or on my desk for later fidgeting. One time, I forgot to toss one. Left it sitting out on my desk for days until one day I looked over and there were seeds everywhere. Without realizing, the little bud had dried up over time and burst. It made a bit of a mess.

People’s suffering, their desperation, I think they’re a bit like those seeds. If left unattended for too long, left to fester, they eventually burst. And gosh, I think we’ve been on these people’s desk long enough.

When sorrow and difficulties strike hard, hope becomes the lone star in the dark sky. This is the story of Amira, a 23-year-old girl who found herself bearing the burden of her family after her father's death three years ago due to the coronavirus.

After my father's passing, I found myself taking care of my family, consisting of my mother, sister Noor, and brother Abdulrahman. My mother, suffering from high blood pressure and diabetes, faces health problems that further complicate their situation. But courage and determination drive Amira forward.

I worked as a teaching assistant at the university while pursuing a master's degree in data science, and also worked as a programmer in a company. My life was going smoothly until war came and destroyed everything.

My university, workplace, and home were completely destroyed, forcing them to flee south in search of a safe haven. Now, I and my family live in tents for displaced people in Deir al-Balah, where they suffer from water shortages and the spread of diseases, posing an additional challenge, especially for my immunocompromised mother.

This is a brief about our daily suffering.

Please help me, my mother, my sister and my brother to go out to treat my mother because she suffers from widespread diseases because her immunity is weak and help us to complete our educational journey, me and my brother

As a result of my outstanding grades in my study and the excellent performance in my job, I have been a holder of different scholarship and I am active participant in many research visits and scientific missions. 👩‍🔬The last scholarship as at McGill University in Canada three months ago before the starting of the genocide in Gaza.😥

However,😥

My life changed dramatically when Israeli military launched a sweeping war against Gaza. My home and our neighborhood in the North have been destroyed along with our belongings and precious memories early in this crisis.😭💔

My job and my husband's job are gone. Israeli military forced us to evacuate from the north Gaza to the south where they claimed it would be the safe zone but it is not at all. Our sweet home and neighborhood have been destroyed.

Forced to flee with nothing but the clothes on our backs, today, we find ourselves sheltering in a displacement camp lacking access to sanitation, medical supplies, food and drinkable water. I will not talk a lot about the dire and unbearable life we have to go through, as no word can express it fairly😔

The good news in the midst of this tragedy, that I am one of the 22 women from the developing world who have been awarded OWSD- PhD fellowship to pursue my PhD study in Malaysia🍉💪. But now I am stuck in Gaza unable to achieve my dream because Israeli army has occupied and closed all the border crossings 😭💔

This genocide has been more than a year of hell and horror. We have reached a point where there is no hope left for us here in Gaza, where we are unfortunately just waiting for our turn to die.
